Alexis, I can't find any ties in the Talisman to the Dark Tower and Salem's Lot. Which part make you think of this connection?
I think it is Rolands world just a different time or a different part of his world and theres a lot of links between the 2 and speedy is a kind of gunslinger/protector in the flip side!
i keep imagining the talisman to be one of the wizards glasses and the house where the talisman is found is a house controlled by spirts? magic?? simular to the house jake had to enter....Tim,
you mean like the other side of the tower for instance.. follow the beam etc etc?
Just a comment: King has written about several places similar to the house where the talisman is held, as far as I can tell.
The house containing the talisman is a spot found in all realities, if I remember correctly, similar to the Dark Tower itself.
(Another connection to the DT series: When Jack touches the talisman, doesn't he then see all realities and universes, and how small he is in relation to them? This also brings to mind the vision that Walter shows Roland at the end of the Gunslinger, where he sees infinite universes all contained inside a single blade of grass.)
Anyway, back to my original point: The house on Dutch Hill, where Jake Chambers is "drawn" in the DT series. This house is the doorway that Jake seeks in order to bring him back to where he knows that he belongs.
Then there is the Black House, of course, where Jack finds himself later in life, and is another gateway protected by evil.
Then, and maybe this is where Alexis is getting the connection to Salem's Lot: The Marsten House.
Essentially, these are all Evil Houses with something to hide and protect, as well as connections between King's books.
the dark tower has ties to a lot of King's books.
There is a scene at the end of the Talisman where Jack is at the beach and there is a gunfight going on and he sees Roland for just an instant and Roland sees him. I'm not sure If Roland is just arriving at the western sea or if it is when he is drawing Eddie Dean. In the last book of the series King listed all of his books and put an asterik next to all that were connected to the Dark Tower.
It was very cool. As I remember before the last came out my brother and I were making our own list. Then we didn't need too.

I too always thought that the talisman that Jack brought back was similar to one of Maerlyn's Rainbow. And that the description of the house existing on all planes of being but in different forms was exactly like the tower.
I found Jack Sawyer and Jake from the Dark Tower series similar, the same courage and aloneness. And ditto Christian's comments about the house being a version of the Tower, and Speedy being a gunslinger. Not to mention the whole story Little Sisters of Eluria...SPOILER ALERT
... being a kind of link between the two, with Roland in a billowing tent that seems the same, but at a much later date, as the Queen's Pavilion, no?
****Possible Spoiler******One of the many ties in "Black House", the sequel to
"Talisman" that I truly loved was the brief mention of Ted Brautigan from "Hearts in Atlantis" when Jack frees all the children who are Breakers.
Definitely. There are even a few titles that you wouldn't think could be related, but the DT connections are virtually everywhere. I love it!
So I have read Insomnia and that clearly ties into DT. I have not read the Talisman series and will add that to my to read section. I know all of King's work can tie into it but What novels really tie in like Insomnia? I have just started the DT series and just finished the gunslinger. I would like to read all I can to make sure I don't miss a thing. Any help would be great.

I will defiantly check out that collection of short stories. Thanks for the great info.
The official site of The Dark Tower contains a sectoin of its connections to King's other books. Be careful, it contains spoilers.http://www.stephenking.com/DarkTower/...

I was on the MB for a while and love it but for some reason it doesn't work on my computer ever since I got it wiped at the shop 'cause it had a really nasty virus. Whenever I try to post it sends doubles/triples if it even sends at all and etc... sad.
Sorry don't mean to get off topic lol

I'm probably late chiming in on this, but talisman/BH there is a place called The Territories. There is mention of The Crimson King. As far as the DT series, I only made it through the 4th book and I stopped - I think I got sidetracked with other books- but I loved both of these books and it became very clear the "worlds" of the DT. I seem to recall a connection, a very mild one, to the little sisters of Eluria, here as well. I fell in love with the very talented Henry Leyden in Black House. I even grew fond of that crazy old coot Charles Burnside.
Is it possible that the Blasted Lands mentioned in The Talisman could be The Waste Lands in the Dark Tower Series? Maybe on a different dimension or smth possibly?
Shubhankar wrote: "Is it possible that the Blasted Lands mentioned in The Talisman could be The Waste Lands in the Dark Tower Series? Maybe on a different dimension or smth possibly?" If you read another section of The Talisman, called Point Venuti, you will get a sense of Deja Vu, when Jack Sawyer approaches the hotel. It calls and sings to him like it did with Roland Deschain.
There is a direct reference in Black House to the Crimson King being locked in the Dark Tower. The whole purpose of the “evil one “ was to release the Crimson King from this tower.
Throughout Dark tower there is reference to the Crimson King. This includes the prophetess who was pregnant with the “prince” of the Crimson King. However, this is not the territories. Throughout the Talisman we are told that there are infinite worlds. But it would appear that more than one world is striving to ultimately destroy the Crimson King. Looking forward the rest of the series to see how many more worlds are found.
