Though the history was accurate in Alexander Cordell's Rape of the Fair Country, I think his characters are portrayed as being more cheerful than the dour Welsh living in the dirty and often dangerous environment at the beginning of the industrial revolution. Though this is the only criticism I have of the story. I thoroughly enjoyed the book and held my breath reading the tragic ending. As an author of historical fiction living in Wales and sometimes setting my narratives in Wales, I truly appreciate this author.

Hi JeanI thought The Fire People a bit grittier. Expect you've already read that one, though.
Jonathan
Alexander Cordell
I have read the Fire People and you are right, it is grittier than some of A. Cordells Work. Living and writing historical fiction in Wales I naturally take an interest in authors that have trodden the path before me. Jean
