The more variety we have in this group, the more we can learn from each other!
By the way, I noticed Christ plays in ten thousand places on your reading list, I have read that book too.
I have read several of Pastor Peterson's books and have enjoyed them very much. Especially enjoyed his autobiography. I have only started this one and it also is very good, but it won't be a "quick" read.

I enjoy his Message though.

You'll find all sorts of neat things here on GoodReads...if only there was more time to browse!
Looking forward to interacting with you. I'm in Seattle (Federal Way actually), married to one (22 years!), father of four, with 2 in college, 1 in high school, and 1 in middle school. I'm always telling my daughters that I don't want to be a grandfather before I turn 50...please God, give me 7 more years!!!

Hello! I've been meaning to jump in for some time. Have been lurking in the shadows. I hope it's okay to participate without my book being out yet. Should be in a month or two. A little intro: I just celebrated (?) the big 6-5 birthday {{shudder}} and our 45th anniversary. Our three kiddos have flown the coup. We have two granddaughters and one more that we consider our granddaughter (long story).

Thanks so much for the welcome. The book is entitled Ready or Not...Here I Come! I took the ancient, 12-step Hebrew betrothal tradition (from choosing the bride, to the betrothal covenant, to the bride’s cleansing, to snatching the bride, to the wedding feast, etc.) and developed 12 chapters with personal application as the church Bride awaits her heavenly Bridegroom to snatch Her away.
Thanks for this group! I'm an author, editor, and small press owner (Endurant Press) and write Christian non-fiction. My first book, How to Keep Your Inner Mess from Trashing Your Outer World (Monarch/Kregel, 2009), helps Christians rise above the crazy voices that clutter their soul.
My second book, Four Letter Words (Endurant Press, 2011) releases this fall. This book offers powerful talking points to engage disillusioned friends with the beauty and logic of the Christian faith.
I'm happy to join the discussions here. Thanks.

Good Morning All, I'm an author as well and my book has been out for a year now but I got very sick the day after it went to the publisher. I spent that next year in and out of the hospital with several surgeries and on top of it all that same week I got into a no-fault accident and totaled my car. That being said I didn't get to launch my book properly. Now I'm trying to get it off the ground and navigate my way through all the different web-sites. There are many good programs out there but I really like this format. Right now I'm writing nonfiction and after I finish the current and second book I'm working on, I'll be moving into fiction. Last but not least song writing is my passion. I love all the different personalities on here. Bravo.
Marja wrote: "Welcome Anita, you'll enjoy this group. I see you throughout the site and notice how much time you take with each person. Blessings and Hugs, Lynette
Oh well, I've been fiddling with the book shelf in this group, I need help! Please feel free to move the books to the proper shelf. Thanks.
Hi, everyone. I've just discovered this site. (The "kindness rules" aspect of this group really appeals to me.) Since I recently published a non-fiction eBook (below), I'm just getting set up as a Goodreads Author. So please feel free to stop by my book page or author's blog if you'd like to say hi. :) SusanTHE HOLY SPIRIT: Amazing Power for Everyday People
Hi Susan, welcome to Goodreads and this group, we love to have you here. Congratulations on your book! Feel free to add a teaser of review for other group members to read.
Hello everyone. I like Susan just discovered Goodreads and have just starting joining some groups. I am a Chaplain and first time author. My book "The Father's Love" is my true story of my cross-country search for my missing son and how I came to know the Lord as my savior.
Marja wrote: "Hi Susan, welcome to Goodreads and this group, we love to have you here. Congratulations on your book! Feel free to add a teaser of review for other group members to read."Hello, again. Normally, I'm a writer/director in the entertainment industry, so I'm a brand spanking newbie at Goodreads and I really appreciate your welcome into the group. Thanks so much for also inviting me to post a little teaser of review about my eBook. Here goes:
THE HOLY SPIRIT: Amazing Power for Everyday People is a step-by-step guide to growing in dynamic relationship with the Holy Spirit. It explores how even the most ordinary of believers can experience the extraordinary power of God in everyday life. Tackling tough questions with straight answers, this book tracks an everyday believer's journey into what may be Christianity's best-kept secret. It dives deep into the often-marginalized mysteries of the Holy Spirit, mingling scriptural examples with numerous contemporary anecdotes of the amazing power of God in the lives of everyday believers. Reviewers have called it "respectful and bold" a "life-changing must-read for every Christian" and "a Pilgrim's Progress for the modern age."
For more details, you can visit the book's Amazon page: http://www.amazon.com/HOLY-SPIRIT-Spi... Amazon's "Look Inside" feature has formatting issues, but everything translates well if you download the free sample or book to your Kindle or Kindle apps.) You're also invited to drop by my book or author page and leave a message. I'd love to hear what you think. :) Susan
Hi Dave, welcome to Goodreads and this group! I have added your book to our group bookshelf. Feel free to tell us why readers should pick up your book!
Thank you for the welcome Marja! The Father's Love is a powerful story of not only a father's love and search for his son but our heavenly Father's love and search for all of us. It will take the reader along for the frantic search but it also will begin to show them the power of prayer, God's hand in the details of our lives, and the miracle working power of God. The book is a quick read, very little down time, and full of suspense.
Thanks Dave. So, it is not just an autobiography, but also inspirational in a sense of applying faith in our daily life. Is that right?
Yes Marja I believe from the comments from many readers that it is very inspirational and brings a feeling of hope, something that is so desperately needed in the world that we are living in. Faith opens the door for God to do miracles. You can read comments at the Facebook fan page; https://www.facebook.com/pages/The-Fa...
What a great example of a FB fan page Dave... It inspires me, I still haven't created one, keep postponing it :)
Thanks Marja but truly I give all the glory to God! Love your blog about the effect of righteousness. We really do have a choice, to let His light shine through us and be part of the solution, or be part of the problem. I choose His righteousness! Hallelujah!
Thanks for your kind words Dave, do you have a blog or website? If so, you can ad it to this group, there is a section where it says 'blogs', maybe you can add a link to your FB fan page there too

I'm just launching my book, too, and Goodreads has been a great place to get started. :)Susan
Hi! I have just read through this thread and feel happy to know this group is here! I have been active with Goodreads for a few weeks - after saying it looked like "too much bother"!! And now I have some ridiculous number of books on my "to read" shelf! Guess that shows how much of a reader I am!!I started reviewing books, waayyy back in July - 2011! So I am still a Newbie! My hope is to concentrate on reviewing Spiritual books, but I know I already have non-Spiritual (so to speak) books in my stack of books to review.
I have a blog, as well as a Goodreads' profile, and I am connected with another Book Blogging site.
There are 10 posts on my blog at the moment, 3 book reviews and 7 "musings". The musings usually have a Spiritual inclination.
You are most welcome to visit my blog, and learn a little about me. I posted a review earlier tonight, so I will give you the link direct to that posting. But, please feel free to wander around!!

I am looking forward to getting to know this group! I think I have found a place where I fit in!!
Blessings
Patricia
Oh! I forgot to add.... I do not have an eReader (although I may have to change that - a great amount of thought is required). So, when I review I usually ask authors for a "real" book. Although, a few have been books I really want to read, or authors I really want to help out. So, I have accepted pdf files, and Kindle compatible eBooks. Kindle has a free program right on your laptop. It is kind of cool, but still.......So, that's my P.S.!

Hi Patricia, welcome to this group and to Goodreads in general, I should add. A great place for book lovers, writers, readers, reviewers or just plain old collectors. I guess we all have huge to-read shelves... as the old saying goes: so many books, so little time. We are looking forward to your reviews, if there is anything specific you are looking for, feel free to post on it... there are quite a few authors in this group.

Like you, I don't have an e-reader yet. I just downloaded the free Kindle for PC, but I may have to break down and get an actual Kindle one of these days. Since joining this group there are so many books I'd like to curl up and read. :)Susan

She never had a lesson and didn't know how to read music (and was not a singer), but it was amazing the way she could sit at the piano and play hymns--just hymns--by ear.
Anyway, welcome to the group. There are such nice people here. :)
