Phyllis (mzgambler) | 2 comments Hello,

I'd love for someone to send me a list of all the Pendergast Series. I did not realize that RELIC was the first of the series. To tell the truth, I have the book, but it was scary in the first couple of chapters and didn't want to complete it. Now, my curiosity is stirred so I might try to get back into the book. But, I have read one of the Pendergast books, but now I can not remember the name of it. I love the Douglas Preston books. I have read, Impact, Blasphamy, Codex.....can't remember the others. Was hoping there was a list on this page of all of the books by not only Preston, but with Preston& Child.
The Codex was great and really kept me turning the pages.
Would love a list I mentioned above.

Thanks for your time.
Phyllis

Phyllis (mzgambler) | 2 comments Thank you so much for taking the time to send me this. I look forward to these books. I have read Brimstone. I plan to pickup my Relic book tonight and try to get back into it and forget the scary part! lol

message 4: by Cherei (new)

Cherei | 1 comments I've read them all.. and they are ALL just wonderful! Preston and Child earned their spot on my bookshelves from the very first book! The only books I need to fill out my collection totally.. are some of Preston's individually written novels. I have all of the one's he's published in the past decade.. but, there are some earlier works.. that I need to get too.

Lynette Barfield | 3 comments Google the authors' websites for a list of all their books. I have read almost all of their books in combination and individually. The Penderegast series is great, but so are their other books. I was not sure that you were aware of the other titles. I really like to listen to Rene Auberjunois read Pendergast. I recently read the new series book called Gideon's Sword. Can't go wrong with any of them.

Carl Deskins | 4 comments Their new book COLD VEGNEANCE is a very good book!!!! If you get a chance please read it for a good experience. It has a lot of details that is a common theme in their past books. I think before people can be completely satisfied they should posses the book in its original form!!!!!!!!

Lynette Barfield | 3 comments In reading your comment, I get the feeling that you don't care for listening to audio books. If this is what you meant, please be advised that everyone is not blessed with good eyesight. I am truly grateful for audiobooks. I also feel that good narrators can enhance the experience. How do you feel about E books? They can be read, but not as a hardback can. I personally feel that it doesn't matter how as long as you "read". If I misinterpreted your intention, sorry. What's good for one person is not always good for another.

Barb McGregor (Barb_McGregor) | 1 comments All of Preston and Child books are fabulous! They suck you in right from the beginning! Haven't read the newest one yet. Gonna get it today for my Nook.

message 10: by Mary (new)

Mary (marysadventures) | 1 comments I am reading Cold Vengeance right now - have read all of the other Pendergast books and everything else you guys have written. My only complaint is that there aren't more to read! :)
Any suggestions for good reads in addition to your books?

message 11: by Lois (new)

Lois Gresh (loisgresh) I've read all of the Preston-Child books & am crazy about Pendergast. My favs are Cabinet of Curiosities and Still Life with Crows, and I'm currently reading Cold Vengeance. Preston-Child are awesome, and I can't wait to see a Pendergast movie.

message 12: by Angee (new)

Angee Bartlett (angeebart) | 2 comments I am both a reader and an audio book reader. I am in the car a lot and audio books make the travel time non-existent. The first Preston & Child I ever heard was The Relic and now I have everyone of theirs except the newest one. Every long trip I take I listen to at least one of the "older" books. Love them!

message 13: by Lois (new)

Lois Gresh (loisgresh) I've not listened to any of them via audio books. Might be interesting. I did look for them at the library before going on a recent road trip to a conference, but unfortunately, the library had a meager selection of audio thrillers.

message 14: by Angee (new)

Angee Bartlett (angeebart) | 2 comments What a bummer. I have 4 libraries within a 10 mile radius and they are part of a network of more than 50 libraries so I am really lucky. Of course, once I listen to a book, if I really like it, I put it on my wish list. Then the wish list is shared with the family. My Christmas presents are always audio books off that wish list. It's great. I am still looking for some of the Preston-Child books on cd because I have them on cassette but I don't even own a cassette player anymore. Oh well. Good things come to she who waits.

message 15: by Lindsay (new)

Lindsay (lollypopzoo) One of my favorite aspects of the Pendergast series is that Preston and Child weave in aspects of other books they have co-written. For example, the company GeneDyne is mentioned in several books, as is the character Mime. I love that all of these characters and companies exist in the same world. It makes the people and settings that Preston and Child weave together so much deeper and engaging.

message 16: by Debra (new)

Debra (debra_t) | 1 comments I've followed the Pendergast series from the very beginning, and even re-read several to refresh my memory before moving on to the next one when it came out. Looking forward to reading #11. Pendergast is one of my most favorite detectives! Thanks for the fun ride, to both authors!

message 17: by Kathy (new)

Kathy (kathyloves2read) I have read the whole Pendergast series...except Cold Vengence, which I'm on the waiting list for. I've thoroughly enjoyed each book. I'm also a big fan of the "Relic" movie - even though they made character changes. I wish the rest of the books could be made into movies.

message 18: by Janice (new)

Janice Mitchell (jannyfae) | 26 comments I wrote down all of Preston and Child books in chronological order, then bought them all (most used on amazon.com). I have them sitting in order on my bedroom chest and read half of them before I got a Kindle for Christmas. Now I'm buying them again for my Kindle. I LOVE all of these books and am now reading Dance of Death. Pendergast is my favorite character. THANK YOU Douglas Preston and Lincoln Child for writing these!

message 19: by Rebecca (new)

Rebecca (beckiwieder) | 1 comments I LOVE Pendergast! I read the first book - Relic - because my book club chose it. I was hooked and proceeded to read every one. Now I'm reading everything Lincoln & Child have written individually & together

Tyson Adams | 1 comments When I first picked up a P&C it was Still Life with Crows. The thing that really grabbed me was the layered characters, especially Pendergast and his local assistant. I've been a fan ever since.

Yes, I enjoy that aspect of the series of P&C books, too! It's sometimes just a small reference, but it adds a bit of a wink to the faithful reader, and I love it.

I'm a budding novelist in my own right, and just for fun I dropped a reference to a character from another story plot I plan to write up someday. Who knows if I'll ever get published (I hope so), but if I do, I would like to think I can tie in one book to the next like P&C have done. ;)

message 22: by Douglas (new)

Douglas Preston | 38 comments It's funny -- We never intended to write a series when we invented Pendergast and wrote RELIC. It was going to be a fun, stand-alone novel. But Pendergast took on a life of his own and now, here we are, a dozen books later. Pendergast seems more real to me than some real people I know.

Diane Fisli | 189 comments Douglas wrote: "...Pendergast took on a life of his own and now, here we are, a dozen books later..."

And many hours of reading later, very happy are we (still!) that he took on that life!

Funny how you can create a character and *think* you're in charge of their choices and destiny... HA!

Your many fans ... including me ... are so glad you ccontinued with Pendergast, Douglas. I've been reading the series but also including your individual books according to the dates they were published, so I've WITH DELIGHT been able to understand and relish how the characters and/or corporations have intertwined. LOVE that!

message 25: by Sally (last edited Sep 09, 2011 06:14PM) (new)

Sally (sallyeasley) | 4 comments That is what I love about reading...you find a character who comes alive and lives with you while you read. I always hate endings because that character, that 'friend' who you have been spending so much time with has to go away for awhile but comes back (you hope!). I am one of those who has an e-reader now, but your books will still be one of those that I will buy in HB. The line of them continues to creep across my bookshelf but I think (hope, again) one day they will fill more than one shelf (I got long shelves! LOL)

message 26: by Joyce (new)

Joyce Wrobbel | 117 comments I love the fact that Pendergast took
on a life of his own.
When i started the books (Relic) I did not
pay much attention to Pendergast.
THEN I read Cabinet of Curiosities and
his character leaped out at me. I just
adored him.
I lovedd his Southern charm, his witty sayings
and his coloration. Even loved his aloofness!
Thanks guys for making him such a joy.

I feel the same way - he's quite a powerful character, and someone worth "knowing", so to speak. I imagine you enjoy writing his story as much as we enjoy reading your work.

message 28: by Joyce (new)

Joyce Wrobbel | 117 comments I agree Ezra.
He is a character worth "knowing".

message 29: by Kathy (new)

Kathy Broyles I usually can't stand "series" books, but I love Pendergast and am excited every time a new one comes out.

message 30: by Joyce (new)

Joyce Wrobbel | 117 comments Keep reading Cheryl.
You are going to love Pendergast
more and more.
He becomes an addiction!

message 31: by Dawn (new)

Dawn | 3 comments I love Pendergast, too! Addicted to these books which I just recently found. Having just listened to Cold Vengence (excellent narrator BTW who has now become the voice of Pendergast for me) it seems as though the story will continue. When can we expect the sequel?

message 32: by Joyce (new)

Joyce Wrobbel | 117 comments December 2012.
A long time to wait I know.
I do not have the audio of CV
yet but I will get it.
Is yours narrated by Rene
Auberjonois?
Spelling of name might be wrong.

message 33: by Dawn (new)

Dawn | 3 comments Yes, I believe that is the reader. Highly recommend this version.

message 34: by Cher (new)

Cher (sharpei) | 28 comments Yo, where did everyone go....the movies or something? I know a couple of peeps have been busy over at Team Pendergast, lol. Those peeps can post a mile a minute!

message 35: by Joyce (new)

Joyce Wrobbel | 117 comments I know what you mean Cheri.

Same on FB.
So many posts I can't keep up.
I have not joined as I would
be swamped.

message 36: by Diane (new)

Diane Fisli | 189 comments I've been busy writing my novel - revising it - and formatting it for the Kindle as a friend who is giving me constructive criticism finds it easiest to read on her Kindle. Previously had ten chapters, now sixteen, and there are twenty three altogether. Been a bit of a job as you might well imagine.

I can't keep up with Team Pendergast on FB either - LOL! And I'm a member of several David Garrett pages that post easily three times what they post on TP - so I TRULY feel swamped... It is fun, though.

TP folks have been bugging P&C to join up and take part in a "Quote Challenge" (or something like that). So far, no response. The Gents have been busy, and I don't want to seem critical, but TP should really leave them alone so they can take care of business in their own time. IMO.

:) I follow all the conversations here - if I have anything worth posting, I'll say it - LOL, like I told another friend when I started my blog - oh boy, another place where I can be "windy"! HAHA!!! XD

message 37: by Cher (new)

Cher (sharpei) | 28 comments I don't mind your *windiness*, love reading your posts so your book should be excellent! Yeah, they shouldn't bug the Gents, you're right about that.

message 38: by Joyce (new)

Joyce Wrobbel | 117 comments I like your "windiness" too Diane.

I know what you mean getting swamped.
By the way good luck on your book!!!!

I am on a few other sites too (mainly dog
sites) as i am very much into dogs.

Yeah, leave the Gents alone. They will respond
in their own time.

message 39: by Diane (new)

Diane Fisli | 189 comments Haha, thanks. (you shouldn't encourage me, LOL!)

If you are curious, I have the first two chapters of my book in .pdf (Adobe Acrobat Reader) format here:

http://www.catalinathepirate.com/The_...

(It's a love story/character study, constructive criticism gratefully appreciated)

I also blog about it some @ http://catalinathepirate.com/wordpres...

I love it when Doug answers people on his FB account - he's always got something interesting to say. Linc is less chatty, but again, usually has something interesting to say. Their books, together and singly, have been terrific. I love turning other people onto their work. :)

Talking to other fans of their work is also fun. ;)

Linda (msnurse50) | 8 comments My husband and I caught Douglas Preston at the Harbor Theater in Boothbay Harbor, Maine on Tuesday, Oct 25th at "An Evening with Author Douglas Preston". It was very enjoyable and he most graciously signed my copy of "Cold Vengence". He spoke mostly of his book Monster of Florence and other intersting things. It was to help the local library.

message 41: by Linda (new)

Linda (msnurse50) | 8 comments oops! type "interesting".

message 42: by Diane (new)

Diane Fisli | 189 comments Ah yes, I noticed Doug had done that - how wonderful it must have been to be there!

The book "Monster of Florence" is fantastic! Have you read it yet, Linda?

message 43: by Joyce (new)

Joyce Wrobbel | 117 comments Lucky you Linda!

Have they started to make Monster Of Florence yet?

We will check out your sites Diane.
Thanks for sharing.

message 44: by Linda (new)

Linda (msnurse50) | 8 comments Not yet. I plan to read it after the book I am currently reading, an earlier one by LC "Deep Storm". Have you read it? I am reading some of the earlier books by P&C (or P or C alone )because I have read everything else.

message 45: by Diane (new)

Diane Fisli | 189 comments Yes, I've read Deep Storm, it's pretty good!

Here's Douglas Preston's story of the Monster of Florence - somewhat condensed - for the Atlantic Monthly:

http://www.theatlantic.com/magazine/a...

It's quite a read. This was published before he got the English version of TMoF released.

Joyce, the movie is still "In Development" with a tentative release date of "2013." I understand that George Clooney is slated to play Doug. :)

message 46: by Dawn (new)

Dawn | 3 comments Juicy stuff here...keep it up ladies, I'm listening...will see if Monster of Florence is available at my local libarary and hopefully on audio. I drive 36 miles each way to and from work but that drive can take two hrs and there goes my reading time....lol..thanks for the recommendation~

P.S. Break a leg on the book, Diane!
