Kirby | 12 comments I just wonder if any twilight fans have also read the sookie stackhouse series, and have noticed that it seems like a lot of SM's ideas were already being utilized by CH...I still love twilight, but dead until dark came out first, and it's about a TELEPATH who's never been in love (mostly b/c of her "disability") finding the first person whose thoughts she CAN'T READ and falling in love with him. he's a VAMPIRE who tries not to feed on humans and who wants to retain some humanity. then there's her friend who turns out to be a SHAPESHIFTER (whose temp runs high and who changed at puberty) who also loves her. I just don't think that this many similarities can be dismissed as coincidence...do you?

Hmmm I think you will always be able to find similarities in Vamp/shifter books.

AlbertaJenn Yeah, you can also see such similarities in Sherrilyn Kenyon, Kelley Armstrong, Anne Rice, LJ Smith. Such is the nature of the Paranormal genre.

Kirby | 12 comments well, I don't know...I've read an awful lot of books, and I've never come across two such similar plot lines...I mean, if these two series contained only one or two similarities it would be one thing, but...I'm not saying that I think SM plagiarized or stole, I just wonder at her saying that she'd never read any other vampire books- and if she had read or heard of the sookie books, I think she should have owned up to it. and, hey, maybe she was telling the truth...but I would find it even more remarkable if it were just a giant coincidence, cause that's gotta be highly unlikely.
