Shomeret | 6 comments What have you learned about 18th century England and America from reading this book?

I've just read ten pages and I now understand why a debtor's colony was established in Georgia. I'd been taught that it was a humane alternative to imprisonment, and that's certainly true. Yet that clearly wasn't the reason why the political and economic establishment in England endorsed it. Seeing the true motivations behind the rhetoric is fascinating.

Shomeret | 6 comments I've been doing searches on historical places, events and individuals mentioned in the narrative.

Today I did a search on Fort Mose, and found
The Fort Mose Historical Society at http://www.fortmose.org

I thought people might be interested.
