I haven't read these, but now I'm curious. I really enjoyed Haddix's "Shadow Children" series. I thought it was a well executed and interesting plot. So, do you guys recommend this series?
I do! I finished Torn and it was just as good as the rest! I haven't read Shadow Children, I really should pick it up though. As to the series, I'm a little sad that it seems this will be the last book! Anyone have any definite news that says this is it?
I recommend the series as well. I haven't read Shadow Children, how is that as a series? Is it good?Aurora do mean the last book in The Missing Series or the Shadow Children? If you mean The Missing Series then there's suppose to be seven books. So we have three more :)
This may be a bit of a spoiler for those who haven't read the books but who do you think Jonah really is? I'm thinking he might end up being an historical figure in himself, if that makes any sense.
If you mean The Missing Series then there's suppose to be seven books. So we have three more :)Yay! Thank you! The end of the last book seemed like it could have been a finale, I was a little disappointed.
who do you think Jonah really is?
Well, we could start with a list of people he *could* be:
Lindbergh baby (have we seen him yet?, young though)
Bobby Dunbar (young though)
Jacob Wetterling
Louis XVII
Princess Anastasia (probably not :P but I wanted to add girls to the list in general for future reference - could be a brother though)
Aimée du Buc de Rivéry (another for the girl list)
Hmm good list :) I could see Jonah as the Lindbergh baby. I don't think we've seen him yet.I wonder if Chip will come back into the story.
No, this series is about a plane full of infants that showed up at an airport with no pilot or adult on board, and tells the story of the children a decade-plus later after they've been adopted into families. Any more than that is spoilers :D I don't know about Shadow Children, it's on my wish list but I haven't read any of them.
More info (according to wikipedia/Haddix's website) on the rest of the books in the series:Caught

I really liked the creativity in the Virginia Dare story, plus the artists were a great sideline. I like how it came up again in Torn, too.
I agree, I like Torn and Sabotaged the best. The plot in Sent dragged on too long and Found was good but most of the story was spent on setting up the series. I liked how the author made a interesting story out of very little historical data on John Hudson.
Do you mean Found? I think a lot of us would say yes, Tracy and I agreed that the third and fourth books were better than the first and second.
Caught the next book in the series just got upped in its release date. It's now coming out September 4, 2012 as per Haddix's facebook.
I thought this was a really great series for younger kids. I read the first three, but when I got Torn I just wasn't in the mood for it. Juvenille fiction only keeps me entertained to a point. But, when my kids get to a reading age I would definitely have them read something like this. You get a bit of a history lesson from each and theres plenty of action and even a little pg romance. They are really very good.
Hope it's okay to resurrect a very old thread. Anyone reading the newest book in the series, Caught?
Has anyone else finished Caught Yet, I really liked it, especially the end, but I don't want to spoil it. :P
Even though everyone says this series is for young adults I think this series is for all ages. This is my favorite series and I just finished reading the sixth book (risked) and it is my favrotie book in the series. I can't wait till the seventh book comes out and I hope there is more after that.
