yes...despite Stefan's attempts to keep him away from mystic falls. Which I believe he is trying to do by staying with Klaus....

I think it does affect it because Elena never died to begin with. What tylers mom did was wrong and she made me mad and then she wants to change her mind at the end and by then it was too late._.
