Izzy (lepetitegeneral) | 121 comments Excited to kick this years list off :D I will be reviewing every single book I read!

message 2: by Karol (new)

Karol Izzy, I'm looking forward to your comments. Glad you're on board with the 75 challenge!

message 3: by Izzy (new)

Izzy (lepetitegeneral) | 121 comments Thanks Kay! I'm excited to do it all again this year :D Maybe even surpass my number from last year.

1. Batman A Death in the Family by Jim Starlin
I wrote a small review on this book. Its amazing. A great read for any batman fan. An essential read honestly. It tells us the story of Jason Todd and his death. It features the joker who is as creepy as ever and the usual great Batman/Joker fight. And the ending is actually quite satisfying. Only downfall for me was the comics(I read it them all separately as comics) have a few pages of catchup/review from the last issue which was annoying. Highly recommend it if you like Batman though!

message 4: by Izzy (new)

Izzy (lepetitegeneral) | 121 comments 2. Batman: Detective Comics Vol. 3
This story arc with Dollmaker is finally picking up and we get a bit more of that false resolution hope headed out way. I'm excited to see where issue 4 takes us with the dollmaker and joker.

3. When the Walls Fell by Monique Martin
WOW! I read the first Out of Time book extremely quickly. Its such a gripping story. And the second one didn't disappoint! We rejoin Simon and Elizabeth in their story as they travel to 1906. Lots of adventure, discovering fakes and fun to be had in this book. I can not wait for the next one highly recommend this series.

Izzy, I think I'm going back to the same "review style" as well. It really nice to read abou twhat people read without hunting for their books. Writing the reviews can be a big task at times but when yougo back its so nice to have a couple lines about the book.

message 6: by Izzy (new)

Izzy (lepetitegeneral) | 121 comments I'm doing it mostly because I always forget something about a book I read so the review is helping me kick start the memory of the book. I recommend it a lot.

Andrea | 4472 comments Mod
Me too! I have no memory...lol

message 8: by Izzy (new)

Izzy (lepetitegeneral) | 121 comments 4. Jessica Rules the Dark Side (Jessica, #2) by Beth Fantaskey
I enjoyed the first book in this series. This book I liked and hated at the same time. Jessica was driving me up a wall with not being able to figure out who did the crimes or become a ruler when she needed to step up. I found myself wanting to yell at the book at times because it was so frustrating to have a main character struggle so stupidly over stepping up to take responsibility. Overall the ending was pretty good, but I had the whole book ending figured out before I was even half way through it.

message 9: by Izzy (new)

Izzy (lepetitegeneral) | 121 comments 5. Switched (Trylle Trilogy, #1) by Amanda Hocking
I don't seem to stay up all night reading a book anymore lately, but this book did it. I found this story to be completely enchanting. It is about Wendy a girl who is a changeling for the Trylle clan. She's never quite fit in and didn't look like her adoptive family at all. While wendy is dark haired dark eyes her family was all blonde hair blue eyed. This book follows her adventure of finding our her true identity and origins. It leads to quite the climax near the end and then a lead up to the 2nd book.

Highly recommend the book if you like fantasy and urban plots.

Izzy (lepetitegeneral) | 121 comments 6. Torn (Trylle Trilogy, #2) by Amanda Hocking
The second book in the Trylle series was just also amazing. I found that we saw the main character Wendy grow a lot as a person and had some of our questions answered about her family and what not. Then we ended with a real kicker making you want to go head and read book 3 right away.

message 11: by Izzy (new)

Izzy (lepetitegeneral) | 121 comments 7. Ascend (Trylle Trilogy, #3) by Amanda Hocking
Wow the end to the Trylle series. It was a good book. Not as powerful of an ending as I felt it would have, but I still really enjoyed it. I highly recommend this series to any fans of urban fantasy and Amanda Hockings writing.

message 12: by Karol (new)

Karol Izzy, wow - you sure read the trilogy in quick order! And you've got me very interested in it as well. I believe I'll be reading at least the first in the series rather soon.

message 13: by Izzy (new)

Izzy (lepetitegeneral) | 121 comments Kay the series is quite good I highly recommend it. I don't often stay up late reading books anymore but the Trylle series had me gripped and unable to sleep unless I found out what would happen enxt.

8. One for the Money (Stephanie Plum, #1) by Janet Evanovich
Maybe it was the hype, but I wasn't totally in love with this book. I enjoyed reading it but I'm not sure if I will continue to read them or not. Perhaps in the next year I will pick up #2, but I found myself semi bored with the plot lines in this story. The men in the series were okay. Her family cracked me up though especially grandma. Overall a fun read but not my favorite.

message 14: by Izzy (new)

Izzy (lepetitegeneral) | 121 comments 9. The Borrowers (The Borrowers, #1) by Mary Norton
The book was very cute. A nice quick read. I found the world of the borrower's to be quite enchanting, but at the same time the book had some very dull moments. I imagine had I been much younger when I read it I would have enjoyed it way more. I'm happy to have read it before the movie comes out though.

message 15: by Andrea, Moderator (new)

Andrea | 4472 comments Mod
Izzy, Stephanie Plum might not be for you if you were bored by the first story. I love this story, I really do love it a lot. However, it is a lot of the same so if you felt that way about #1 you will be hard pressed to read the next 17 or so...lol You have to fall in love with the characters and love them so much that you read the books and their repeating plots just so you gan spend time in the Berg and visit old friends.

message 16: by Izzy (new)

Izzy (lepetitegeneral) | 121 comments Andrea I can see that you would have to really love the Berg characters with the series. I'm definitely interested in reading the second one but I know I'm not going to be reading the whole series in a very quick manner since I'm still iffy on it. I don't dislike it as much as I did when I first wrote my thoughts on it though. I'm curious to see where it goes with the next book though.

10. The Son of Neptune (Heroes of Olympus, #2) by Rick Riordan
WOW! I can't believe it took me so long to read this book. It had a slowish start, but once it got going I had a hard time putting it down. I can not wait to see where the next book takes us! One of my favorites in the whole series. Obviously if you liked the other books your going to love this one.

A little bit behind in my book reading hopefully I can catch up soon.

Izzy (lepetitegeneral) | 121 comments 11. Magic Bites (Kate Daniels, #1) by Ilona Andrews
I loved this book. It was the perfect blend of paranormal future and detective work. My love for it may be partial to being from GA and it taking place there. It's based in a world where magic and technology exist but there are fluxes in the magic where technology doesn't work. Includes a super sexy shapeshifter male and a stubborn strong female lead. It's a wonderful book I stayed up all night to finish it and bought the next in the series immediately.

message 18: by Andrea, Moderator (new)

Andrea | 4472 comments Mod
Izzy, I think if you like the Plum books enough you will find they make great fillers and can be read in a day.

Also, I so agree with your changed thoughts, sometimes I rate a book and then a couple days later I will find that I either liked it more or felt like I may have rated it higher than I now feel...hahaha

message 19: by Izzy (new)

Izzy (lepetitegeneral) | 121 comments 12. Magic Burns (Kate Daniels, #2) by Ilona Andrews
I started this one right after finishing the first book. I'm pretty much hooked on this series now. Its like cupcakes you can't stop eating. I really enjoyed the second addition to this series. I keep coming back for more Curran and Kate's adventures. Sometimes it feels a little repetitive as far as story goes, but I honestly just want to see Kate and Curran hook up and I'll be satisfied. Also the mystery of what exactly Kate is revealed. It's killing me the whole not knowing thing.

message 20: by Izzy (new)

Izzy (lepetitegeneral) | 121 comments 13. Magic Strikes (Kate Daniels, #3) by Ilona Andrews
I think it is pretty safe to say I'm addicted to this series. I just keep coming back for more of Kate and Curran's interactions. I love it. I already bought the 4th book and can't wait to see where it is headed. This one ended with a major cliffhanger and impending doom.

message 21: by Izzy (last edited Mar 12, 2012 12:51PM) (new)

Izzy (lepetitegeneral) | 121 comments 14. Magic Bleeds (Kate Daniels, #4) by Ilona Andrews
This one is packed full of action and goodness. Things are REALLY picking up between Kate and Curran and its all headed in a direction that creates a pretty epic climax. It involves a big brawl at the end.

15. Magic Slays (Kate Daniels, #5) by Ilona Andrews
Now Kate and Curran are starting to steer more towards being 'mates' and someone from Kate's family shows up. Its a pretty epic battle and many things between the two of them get settled.

16. Curran (Curran POV, #1) by Gordon Andrews
First POV book I really liked how it covered the past books and filled in small gaps.

17. Fathers and Sons (Curran POV, #2) by Gordon Andrews
This one picks up right after Magic Slays and gives a bit more closure to what happens in the end I felt.

message 22: by Izzy (new)

Izzy (lepetitegeneral) | 121 comments 18. Curran (Curran POV, #1) by Gordon Andrews
Another amazing POV from Curran. I love this series.
19. Magic Strikes Hot Tub Scene (Curran POV, #4) by Gordon Andrews
Again a good POV about Curran and his thoughts.

message 23: by Izzy (new)

Izzy (lepetitegeneral) | 121 comments 20. The Laughing Corpse (Anita Blake, Vampire Hunter, #2) by Laurell K. Hamilton
This book was awesome! I really enjoyed the second installment in this series. A lot of bad characters were taken care of and we got to see more of the interactions between Jean Claude and Blake. I'm excited to see where this series goes.

message 24: by Izzy (new)

Izzy (lepetitegeneral) | 121 comments 21. Fifty Shades of Grey (Fifty Shades #1) by E.L. James
I read it because of the news on it and how amazing it was supposed to be. It's a twilight story basically but erotica style. Lots of BDSM involved.

22. Fifty Shades Darker (Fifty Shades, #2) by E.L. James
I really enjoyed this one compared to the first. The story picked up the BDSM calmed down a lot also. I saw a lot more character development also.

message 25: by Izzy (new)

Izzy (lepetitegeneral) | 121 comments 23. Witchful Thinking (Jolie Wilkins, #3) by H.P. Mallory
I was upset by this book. I wish it had been different. It really left me feeling unsatisfied and just ready for the final book in the series to come out. It was one big rehashing of everything that had happened along with a few plot points that all tie into the last book.

message 26: by Izzy (new)

Izzy (lepetitegeneral) | 121 comments 24. Lover Eternal (Black Dagger Brotherhood, #2) by J.R. Ward
This book is about Rhage and Mary Luce. A great storyline and a great lead up into the next book from what I can tell.

message 27: by Izzy (new)

Izzy (lepetitegeneral) | 121 comments 25. Circus of the Damned (Anita Blake, Vampire Hunter, #3) by Laurell K. Hamilton
Well the 3rd book in this series has me in love with Anita. Can't wait to read the next one!
Also I'm now 1/3 of the way done!

Izzy (lepetitegeneral) | 121 comments 26. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Volume 1 Change Is Constant by Kevin B. Eastman
I adored this trade! It was amazing to read. I can't wait until July and the 2nd trade comes out for it!

Izzy (lepetitegeneral) | 121 comments 27. A Discovery of Witches (All Souls Trilogy, #1) by Deborah Harkness
I really enjoyed this book's beginning and end. It dragged in the middle a lot. It's a love story between a witch who fell in love with a vampire. The main character Anastasia is a historian who researches Alchemy. She stumbles upon a book that everyone in the supernatural world has been looking for and after reading it briefly returns it. This starts the crazy whirlwind of a plot. We are taken to many places and really see the character grow.

28. Fifty Shades Freed (Fifty Shades, #3) by E.L. James
The end of the 50 shades series. It was a decent book. Chronicles their battle with a certain evil man who was out to take down the family. And ends in a pretty pleasing way. Lots of happiness and just settling of the story in this book.

Izzy (lepetitegeneral) | 121 comments 29. The Iron Duke (Iron Seas, #1) by Meljean Brook
Well I'm not a big steampunk fan but I really enjoyed this book. It had fabulous world building and besides the hero being a bit too much alpha male it was good. And left me with a great feeling at the end of it.

I'm not really into steampunk but you're making me want to try this one!

message 32: by Izzy (new)

Izzy (lepetitegeneral) | 121 comments Charleen I highly recommend it if your interested in it at all! I honestly thought I'd hate it because it was steampunk but I loved it in the end.

I'm starting to feel like I read too fast sometimes. Not having kids or anything helps me have tons of time though to read.

30. Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon, Vol. 1 (Pretty Soldier Sailor Moon Renewal Editions, #1) by Naoko Takeuchi

Izzy (lepetitegeneral) | 121 comments 31. Soulless (Parasol Protectorate, #1) by Gail Carriger
LOVED this book! Amazing plot line and amazing characters.
32. Halfway to the Grave (Night Huntress, #1) by Jeaniene Frost
Also loved this book! Again amazing plot and characters

Can't wait to read the sequels to both eventually.

Izzy (lepetitegeneral) | 121 comments 33. The Goblin King (Shadowlands, #1) by Shona Husk
I was meh over this book. I read it off the recommendation that it was a beauty and the beast type story. It wasn't though for me at least. The plot in some spots felt like it could have been better developed and went into more detail. It was just about a goblin king and a girl. It had some elements of the beauty and the beast story stuff just not what I expected.

message 37: by Izzy (new)

Izzy (lepetitegeneral) | 121 comments 34. Blood Bound (Mercedes Thompson, #2) by Patricia Briggs
Loved this book. Great entry into the second of the series. The villain though was super creepy!
35. Silent in the Grave by Deanna Raybourn
This book was meh. I will be picking up the second one eventually. The plot took well into half of the book to develop. I was literally yawning and struggling to keep reading it.

message 38: by Izzy (new)

Izzy (lepetitegeneral) | 121 comments 36. Bared to You (Crossfire, #1) by Sylvia Day
Heard I should read it if I wanted something similair to 50 shades. Loved it well worth the $4 I spent on it. Plot was intriguing both characters felt very genuine and real. Curious what big plot point will happen in the next book.

message 39: by Izzy (new)

Izzy (lepetitegeneral) | 121 comments 37. Deadlocked (Sookie Stackhouse #12) by Charlaine Harris
This book was disappointed. The CD got used at least and we kind of know that a certain relationship probably isn't going to work out. I'm just not happy with this series anymore. I use to be waiting in anticipation now I loathe the next book.

Izzy (lepetitegeneral) | 121 comments 38. Codename Sailor V, Vol. 1 (Codename Sailor V, #1) by Naoko Takeuchi
39. Prince of Wolves (The Grey Wolves, #1) by Quinn Loftis
This was a decent book. It takes place in the span of a few days and a lot of things happen. It was a quick read and enjoyable. Had to get over the teen speak though. Curious to see what happens once the blood rites are performed.

message 41: by Izzy (new)

Izzy (lepetitegeneral) | 121 comments 40. Heart of Steel (Iron Seas, #2) by Meljean Brook
This book was good and bad all at once. I was excited for the next book in the iron seas series, but left feeling kind of blah by the end. I think the overall story arch just took too long to build up then was over too quickly. Still loved Yasmeen though.

Izzy (lepetitegeneral) | 121 comments 41. One Foot in the Grave (Night Huntress, #2) by Jeaniene Frost
Awesome book! A lot of resolution about Cat and Bones. Can't wait to see what happens next.
42. Gabriel's Ghost (Dock Five Universe, #1) by Linnea Sinclair
This was okay. It had an interesting plot involving a lot of politics. I read it for Vaginal fantasy this month.

message 43: by Izzy (new)

Izzy (lepetitegeneral) | 121 comments 43. Grimspace (Sirantha Jax, #1) by Ann Aguirre
The alt pick for vaginal fantasy this month. An amazing series! I can't wait to delve into the rest of the series. Jax an an awesome strong kick ass female.

message 44: by Izzy (new)

Izzy (lepetitegeneral) | 121 comments 44. The Lunatic Cafe (Anita Blake, Vampire Hunter, #4) by Laurell K. Hamilton
HOLY CRAP! This series is just getting crazier and crazier. I felt like this book took me for a crazy ride as far as plot goes and ended in a way I had no idea was coming which I love to have happen.

message 45: by Izzy (new)

Izzy (lepetitegeneral) | 121 comments 45. Wicked Ties (Wicked Lovers, #1) by Shayla Black
Interesting. I enjoyed it and sped through this book, but I don't think I'd read anything else by this author.

message 46: by Izzy (new)

Izzy (lepetitegeneral) | 121 comments 46. Beautiful Chaos (Caster Chronicles, #3) by Kami Garcia
Filler book was decent read. Want the next in this series already.

message 47: by Izzy (new)

Izzy (lepetitegeneral) | 121 comments 47. The Dark Garden by Eden Bradley
This book was hot! I enjoyed it a lot. It was a great BDSM romance novel. I honestly thought I wouldn't enjoy it nearly as much as I did.
48. A Girl's Guide to Vampires (Dark Ones, #1) by Katie MacAlister
Such an original take on the vampire stories. It follows the adventures of two girls in Romania and is hilarious. Also lots of adventure.
49. Kushiel's Dart (Kushiel's Legacy, #1) by Jacqueline Carey
If you like high fantasy this book is just amazing. I'm still in shock after finishing it I guess you could say. This series seems to just be one of the most epic love stories I have ever read by the time I finish this series.

Almost hit 50 I'm pretty happy with my reading speed this year. I may finally finish all the books on my kindle this year!

Izzy, you are rocking with 50 books down! I think the next book in the Discover of a Witch series comes out this week. Do you think you'll read it?

Thanks! Yeah I actually picked it up from the library since I refuse to pay $15 for a kindle book. I'm hoping it is even better than the first one.

50. Daughter of the Blood (The Black Jewels, #1) by Anne Bishop
Really enjoyed this book. It is a great first book in the series that got me really excited to continue reading the rest of the black jewels.
51. Fables, Vol. 2 Animal Farm by Bill Willingham
Amazing addition to fables story not shocking though that it rocked honestly.
52. Undead and Unwed (Undead, #1) by MaryJanice Davidson
This book was okay. I enjoyed it but I didn't at the same time. I definitely will not be picking up any sequels.
53. Desperate Duchesses (Desperate Duchesses, #1) by Eloisa James
Very different from my normal reading. I actually found myself enjoying it a lot more than I expected I would. Didn't love it as much as the other book this month in Vaginal fantasy but didn't hate it either.
54. Nine Rules to Break When Romancing a Rake (Love By Numbers #1) by Sarah MacLean
I loved this book! I can't believe how much I enjoyed it. I felt like i devoured the whole thing. I was never into regency romance novels honestly and this one kind of sold me on the idea.
