I read this one last weekend, and liked it better than the first two. I didn't anticipate who the killer was at all and was glad to finally get a little background on Summerset; though it wasn't much, at least I got why Roarke keeps him around. I picture Peabody just like Jennifer Carpenter - the actress who plays Debra on the series Dexter.
I thought this part was super cute: "But- but the bouquet. The bridal bouquet." Confused Mark turned to Roarke. "She hasn't chosen."
Roarke watched her fly out. "I know what she likes," he said. "Often better than she does."
I loved the first line of this book...! How fitting! I was beginning to wonder if they would EVER get married! Couple of my favs here:
1. "you know, I'm only marrying you for sex and food."
2. "Darling, before we shift into the official mode, what do you have on under that dress?"
3. "If he keeps looking at you like that, I'm going to have to hurt him." She smiled, patted his cheek. "Down, boy." I can just see Eve doing this!
I'd really like to see the wedding dress!
Finished this one today. Mad at Eve.....mad, mad, mad!!! Wow, that was fast, just thought she would have waited a little longer given her characteristic.
I still think Sommerset is the character to watch out for (there is definitely more to him then we know) - he actually sounded caring in this book.
Liked the murder investigation, though I thought it was who it turned out to be about 30% into the book, but then said "nah, had to be...." (shouldn't have second guessed myself).
I thought it was great that her "friends" cut loose at the end and tried to enjoy themselves. I can just picture that dress though - sounds so simple, so elegant, so Eve.
I really liked this one, and I agree Sommerset is a fascinating character. I think there's probably so much more to him than we've seen yet.
Ok Teresa, I do not remember being mad, so please explain in more detail! What am I forgetting?Heather, I am ready for Vengeance and I still don't like Sommerset! I'm not sure I am EVER going too! LOL
Such a strong willed woman that has been through a lot in her life, so easily (only into book #3) marries someone. Yes, I know he's head over heels for her and she feels a little shy about it, but I just figured she would have fought a little more, been more reluctant, had not so easily "given in"' to being with Roarke. (this is why I don't like mushy love stories....LOL)
I really enjoyed this book. I, too wish I could have seen the wedding dress and I think I would have liked to have a little more narrative of the actual ceremony.I was also a little mad at Eve though. I thought she would have put up a little more of a fight before getting married. The 3 books are starting to all merge together in my mind so I am taking a one book break and then I will go to #4, Rapture in Death. I am excited to get to #6 so I can learn more about Summerset.
I agree with Teresa...I was super frustrated with Eve when she agreed to get married so quickly. I've read ahead through book 10 at this point and although I understand it more, I still think she should have waited a bit...and I think as an author Robb should have strung it out more. Maybe a rejection then another proposal in a book or two. I sort of get the feeling Robb wasn't counting on the series being this long when she wrote it (not like anyone plans on a 30+ book series).
That said, I did like the book quite a bit and I do like Eve and Roarke together, I just felt it was rushed. Very rushed.
And I REALLY REALLY wish there had been a 3.5 novella describing the wedding :(

Oh Jessica I am SO with you. A novella describing the wedding would have been PERFECT! I also think we may not have been so frustrated with the "rush" of the wedding if we had that.

*Warning spoilers ahead*
