How do you think that other Young Adult Novels (say Twilight or Maximum Ride) compare to the Hunger Games series? Better? Worse? In the middle?

thegreatkakuna*hateisinfiniteyetloveiseternal* | 2 comments In my opinion, The Hunger Games are better than some things very easily. Twilight series, The Maximum Ride series, although its good, is nothing compared to The Hunger Games. The only YA series I've found that i like better than The Hunger Games would be the Gone series by Michael Grant.

Hmmm...I'll have to read the Gone series. But I'll agree with you, the Hunger Games is better than the rest!

thegreatkakuna*hateisinfiniteyetloveiseternal* | 2 comments Percy Jackson was good, but I think that the Hunger Games were better.

I think the Hunger Games tops all, but I also enjoyed Graceling, Divergent, and Tiger's Curse!

Apps *ąþþℓεş щïŧɧ şþℓεεŋ ïş şҩųïşɧγ* (appsl) | 10 comments Percy was lovable but Hunger Games was better, with all the killing and stuff. Though Gone series easily tops all! And Vampire Academy was also in my view better than hunger games. Divergent didn't capture me so much. Unwind is also really good.

I've wanted to read Unwind, but my parents weren't sure about it...I've read the summary, but could you explain the plot please?

In the future, there was another civil war over abortion. The solution was that you could 'unwind' a child between age 13-17. That means that all their organs are donated, so they aren't really dead. The story follows a bunch of kids who were being 'unwound' for various reasons

You should totally read it!! So, your parents aren't buying it for you?

Back on topic, have any of you read the Beautiful Creatures series? I just finished it, and it was pretty good, but, same as most of the others, The Hunger Games easily tops it.

Kirby | 31 comments I think that the book thief is the best YA book (that I've read, at least)...

What's it about?

message 20: by Kirby (new)

Kirby | 31 comments oh, man, I can't really answer that! it's so unique and...hard to describe. but I did find this pretty good summation on it's goodreads page: "This is an unforgettable story about the ability of books to feed the soul."

Nataly (natalyreads) The Hunger Games was the book that got me into reading. I have found myself comparing it to other books I read which really affects how I see those books. I just became a HG obsessed fan and everything else I read falls slightly under it, close, but not quite there yet, for me.

You know how vampire/werewolf/supernatural books are popular now? Everytime I compare one to THG, I think, "At least THG has a plot, a purpose, and an actual point." I've never been a fan of these books. No offense to anyone who is though.

THG trumps all:)

message 30: by Kate9 (new)

Kate9 | 285 comments I loove love love THG I read all the books 3 times. And that's sayin something. I HATE re-reading books the only books I've ever ever ever re-read are THG books and Harry Potter. I'll read Divergent and Insurgent again though when the third one comes out because first of all they were AMAZING and second of all I tend to get things mixed up when I read one book then wait too long to read the next one.

I'll read the Divergent series a third (if it is the 3rd time since I almost have them read a 2nd time) when the final one comes out
