I tweeted this yesterday and just now tweeted my download with one of these Amazon "I bought" auto-things, which considerately leaves you about 55 characters for your own message. I think these "I bought" messages are extremely powerful, coming with a level of pre-acceptance that's hard to match unless the writer's name is Stephen King.

K. A. wrote: "US = 91, and UK = 17."

Presuming that this is the natural level of this story, in other words that the giveaway is going as well as can be expected, I find it interesting that you're getting downloads in the UK relative to the proportion of population between the US and UK of somewhere near 5:1.

message 9: by K.A. (new)

K.A. Jordan (kajordan) | 3042 comments That is interesting.

I show, for Mom's short storys that 120 to 150 was average for the US. Her UK numbers were about 1/10th the US numbers.

It appears that Badlands is doing much better.

Sharon Tillotson (storytellerauthor) | 1802 comments Kat, FWIW, I just tweeted Badlands. Sorry been MIA for a few days, missed all the fun.

Sharon Tillotson (storytellerauthor) | 1802 comments Oh good, now I don't feel so bad about not having time yet for a review. Soon, though.

Pick it up Robusters, Kat is very skilled at telling a story in a few short pages...

message 15: by K.A. (new)

K.A. Jordan (kajordan) | 3042 comments She said I'm 'skilled' - thud!

Sharon Tillotson (storytellerauthor) | 1802 comments Oranges to apples anyway...

message 21: by K.A. (new)

K.A. Jordan (kajordan) | 3042 comments LOL - As I'm a genre writer, instead of a literary author it IS a different story all together.

(peeks over the laptop)

Is it safe to come out?

As a teacher of writing with a book to sell (as soon as I get around to writing the fourth edition), of course I always say that anyone can write as well as I do. What I normally don't add is, "if they practice for twenty years..."

message 23: by Sharon (new)

Sharon Tillotson (storytellerauthor) | 1802 comments Kat's a great writer with fewer than 20 years of practice (I believe), imagine how good she will be with 20 years' practice...

message 24: by K.A. (new)

K.A. Jordan (kajordan) | 3042 comments Hmm - practiced since 1976 when I wrote my first novel - in study hall.

With purple ink, or green?

message 26: by K.A. (new)

K.A. Jordan (kajordan) | 3042 comments Blue ink - on lined paper. I hadn't learned to type yet. LOL

The purple and green ink are things I indulge in now, in my second childhood. Kench

message 27: by Patricia (new)

Patricia (patriciasierra) | 2388 comments I used to write on graph paper. HAD to be graph paper or I froze. Now I can barely operate a pen. Sometimes even I can't read my writing. It strikes me as odd because, in my mind, I'm seeing beautiful script and I feel confident I can produce it. I can't.

message 28: by K.A. (new)

K.A. Jordan (kajordan) | 3042 comments For me beautiful script is a font in Word.

K.A. Jordan (kajordan) | 3042 comments Got another free day coming up - April 12 - still looking for the 'big catch' for this e-book short story.

The numbers to beat: US = 166, UK = 25.

message 31: by K.A. (new)

K.A. Jordan (kajordan) | 3042 comments The short story goes free tomorrow. Unfortunately, Real Life has interfered with my plans to plug the story.

Next time...

message 32: by Katie (new)

Katie Stewart (katiewstewart) | 1099 comments I'll tweet and FB it for you. Hope it helps. (Now I have to work out when April 12th starts over there!)
