(This group needs more activity! I figured that it would be like a kingdom: if the king leads/encourages, others will follow. Here we go.)Hate me all you want, but personally my favorite scene during the entire movie involved Cato's death. It was so...so perfect. Everything. His character, the touch of insanity, Peeta being choked (I know, I'm horrible), even Katniss was fantastic in that scene. Somehow it just touched me.
Yeah, I think they did that sence very well. I also like the fight with Clove and KAtniss even if it was rushed. I liked Glimmer's death, and what's funnny is to shoot the sence the camera people had to scale a tree up and down for three hours. It still looked good though, and I like the flower sence sfter Rue died but, I hated her death sence to me they didnt protray that well at all.
Yea, you actually agree with me. I'm surpisred, I actually liked Cinna, like alot. I mean, he did a very good job, he wasn't as invloed as he was in the book but I liked him, they did I good job I can't wait to see him in the coming movie's! Also, I loved Katniss' interviwe dress, just was amazing.
Mine too, Flame. That scene was very well done.So was Katniss's hallucination/flashback. "Mom! Please, say something! Mom don't just sit there and look at me!"
YEs, that sence was Amazing! Also the flashback thing like Hope said, and seeing her "dad" in mines and what it all looked like. I liked Glimmer's death, it was very chilling sence. Everyone was dead qutie when Rue died accpet for the occasional *sniff* Yeah, dad was staring at me when Rue was dieing and was like, "When are you going to start crying?" Me: "I'm not going to cry, Dad now.. SHH!" It was funny. I liked Snow, he looked coool
I liked how they showed Rue's death through her eyes, it was really cool.I wasn't a big fan of all the movement of the cameras. When my friends said they were going to go see it, I told them not to get seasick. I mean, I thought it was useful, and I see why they did it, but it was a little too much, too often.
I do agree with Hope with Katniss' hallucination with the house blowing up, I thought that was really cool.
Glimmer's death, well, all I can say is wow. It was pretty cool looking, very scary.
My favorite was after the interviews, when Katniss pinned Peeta to the wall. It was hilarious, and I will probably watch it over and over on dvd.
I don't know if I have a favorite scene, but I absolutely love the part where the Careers are traipsing through the woods all happy go-lucky, laughing, and having a grand old time. I just... aaah. So much complexity there.
I loved when Peeta was like: "here, let me take the bow"

It didn't make you want to cry like it should've. i've seen it 3 times!!!!! :) Just gets better...

I cried when they flashed to D11. That was sooooo sad :,(
After a couple times, you memorize what they say, know what happens, but no matter what, the mutts will get you. Again. And again. And i will keep on squeezing people's hands. Because that's how I deal ;)
It was good. Not the book, but IT WON't be or beat the book.
Θήρα (Thera) wrote: "The mutts were a bit of a letdown, but they were still scary."Thera's right. Not wolves--oversized pugs--but still pretty darn scary.
My favorite was probably the Gale and Katniss scene in the beginning, as well as the Prim and Katniss one. It just showed simple life, and I liked that. It showed Katniss before she got into the mess that is the Hunger Games, and I kind of like that. Boring, I know, but that's just me.
THE MUTTS SCARED THE LIVING DAYLIGHTS OUT OF ME.
(Although I think it's only because I saw Hounds of Baskerville so it freaked the heck out of me [Hounds of Baskerville is an episode of Sherlock].)
I really wish they included Cato running to Clove's side as she died. It showed that careers are like other people. They have emotions. They're not just ruthless killing machines like they're raised to be. They're human, and they have real, human emotions. And I think that part of the book really showed it, so it was kind of a disappointment that it wasn't in the movie.

I'm totally with you, ƙatoptris. During the whole Mutts scene, I was hoping that maybe Sherlock would come and sit beside me and then it would have been absolutely AMAIZING.
My favorite scene was probably the bloodbath. Now, don't think I'm some blood-thirsty violence-lover. I just think that's the part of the movie that copied the book perfectly. It was rushed, and the camera was shaky- but all that made you feel like you were right there among the tributes.
Hmmm...I didn't feel quite like that. I agree that it was rushed--too rushed. It just eliminated all feeling I would have had for that scene. They never focused on any one person for more than a second (not even Katniss) and it was very hard to tell who lived and who died (which made it impossible to mourn, though I really wanted to).

True. However, I did like how they had the small thirteen-year-old boy from District Four hide in the Cornucopia. Then, when he tried to escape, Cato slit his throat. It seemed strange to me, because being from District Four, the boy should've been allied with Cato in the Career pack. Then I realized that it displayed right away the cruelty and dishonesty of the Careers. Cato most likely did not want such a small boy as an ally, so he killed him without a second thought.
I probably thought into that way too much... but anyways, I still feel the bloodbath was better than much of the other scenes.

You see? I didn't even notice that because they probably didn't linger. Good observations, though. :)

Thanks! But actually, I just checked out the Hunger Games website. Apparently in the movie, they purposely made District 4 not a part of the Career pack, so they could focus on Clove/Cato/Glimmer/Marvel.

What I hated about the movie was the dogs. I looked forward to seeing these amazing wolf-like dogs that so obviously looked like the dead tributes. In truth, I was imagining some kind of creatures that resembled the wolves in te Twilight series movies. Instead, I got four over-sized bulldogs that all looked the same and looked nothing like the dead tributes. Katniss never even looked into the eye of the one dog and realized it had Glimmer's eyes. I was just, so angry and disappointed because I'd been looking forward to this scene because I just thought it would be so cool to see. I was wrong. :/ I'm torn between my two favorite scenes. The parts that really moved me were after Rue died (because her death was just all wrong) when Katniss adourned Rue's dead body with wildflowers and then she gave the salute to District Eleven. I didn't cry when Rue died, but I did start to get choked up when Katniss made that small gesture. I also loved the scene with Rue when Katniss and Rue were making a signal when they were going to blow up the food. When he whistled and the Mockingjays parroted her, I just got those chills up and down my spine. It was so eerie, and just do awesome. It just blew me away for some reason. :3

I agree completely about the scene with the dog-mutts. They did them all wrong! They looked like the hellhounds from the Percy Jackson movie, as if they simply used those instead of taking the time to make ones that looked anywhere near like how they were described in the book.

Well they had to use actual animals for that, I'm guessing so giving them actual human eyes/even trying to make it look like that would have been way too hard so it was understandable. And guys about the movie where people complain that things were changed and they 'got it all wrong' Suzanne Collins WROTE the screen play. So she knew what to and not to do.
I just wanted to point that out.
Yes but they didn't need to use actual dogs for the scene. If you've ever watched New Moon, the wolves look nothing like actually wolves. You can tell they're animated and such because they have human characteristics, but you know it's a wild because there's still so much detail in them. The book even stated that the Mutts were wolf-like and looked like the tributes. I don't think it would have been hard to get that part of a scene down. A dog almost gets Katniss, she turns around and sees the animals eye. She recognizes it as Glimmer's and then gasps and maybe says "Glimmer" before Peeta starts pulling her along again. How hard would that be?
A lot, graphic animations are really really expensive and take a lot of work. And the movie was on a tight schedule if it wanted it aired by 3.23.12. So I don't really mind. But I can see why you guys might. In my opinion, if Suzanne Collins being the author approves it, then I'm not complaining.
I'm still not satisfied with it. That's a scene that a ton of people looked forward to and it kind of got ruined.
I personally liked the way that they animated the tracker jacker stings. They actually managed to bring a better image that I imagined to life, and that was awesome and sent shivers down my spine...
True Christina. =DAnd Silvypoo, it wasn't perfect, yeah. But when are movies based off books? There's always a flaw. That's why the books are always better.
Yeah lol I thought that was really cool, too. It was unexpected an I liked that change in the movie. It was probably the only change I liked.

Lol you can call me Silvy. I know all about that, but that was just something that really irritated me because that was a scene I really looked forward to. If it weren't for those couple of scenes the movie would have been spot on. I just don't understand why Peeta didn't lose a leg except maybe it was too violent? I didn't know why there was no slew syrup, either. Those scenes confused and irritated me, but other than that I loved the movie.
Well, I think him losing his leg could have been too violent. And how would they show him with a fake leg in the other movies, when he has a perfectly good real one right there? And the sleep syrup was a minor detail. I don't think it was worth the effort. But I loved the movie. Just the book was better, way better. =D
But without the sleep syrup, Peeta shouldn't have been able to sleep for as long as he did.Yeah the movie was great, but the details in the book just made it do much better.
One other thing I missed but understand:-THE AVOXES WEREN'T THERE!
But I shall accept this because they DID film it, but they didn't want to add it on to an already 2 1/2 hour movie, lol. I accept it only because they did film it.
And, I WILL buy this movie when it comes on DVD because there HAS to be deleted scenes. You know? =D
exactly. I will get this movie on DVD!!!!!!Oh and I have a question, does anyone find it pointless when people go back to the theaters to watch a movie they already saw before (in theaters) again?
I find it a waste of money and pointless. If you want to see it again, watch it online (like I do) or wait till DVD.
Well sometimes the DVD doesn't come out for a while, and people want to watch it again. We Bought A Zoo's DVD just came out like a couple weeks ago and it was in the theaters around Christmas time. So, no, I don't see anything wrong with it. Plus I went to see Titanic in 3D, but I've already watched it at home. It was freaking awesome.
Well if it's a classic in coming out again ,in 3D, I think that's fine. But I think it's just wasting money to see something again in theaters when someone already saw it. I mean tickets are like $8-$10 per person now just for a normal 2D movie and $10-$15 for 3D. I find it pointless to spend so much money twice. I could get so much chocolate instead! =P
But yeah, I'm bringing this up 'cause a few people went to see the HG 3 times in theaters. and it's only been out 3 weeks! smh
Mmmmm, chocolate. XD And I think they just went because they wanted to see it as much as possible in case the DVD doesn't come out for a long time.
I call it craziness. I just watch it online. letmewatchthis.comzmovie.tv
and I have more sources. *mischivous grin*
Lmao that's not scary or anything! XD Oh yeah, that's a good idea. By maybe they didn't know about that?
