Of course I'm going to join!! :DHi everyone, I'm Haley! Obviously I love to read (or having an account on this website would be odd...), but I also LOVE writing! And traveling, and baking. I'm 19 and a freshman in college. Umm... I would guess there's plenty more, but that all I've got for the moment.
Glad to have you Haley, Thanks for joining :D I think I am going to put up a creative writing section so you, and everyone else too, can put up some of your work.
Hey! I'm Alyssa, I'm in High School and, obviously I oove reading! I do Karate and Waterpolo and enjoy sketching and writing (When I actually have the time). Yup, thats all for now!
I'm Emily, others find it easier to type Em, so all of you can do the same. I'm currently obsessed with Daemon from the Lux series. I love writing, and reading other people's works. Commenting is also another fave activity. I'm now in college, and I hate studying!
That about sums me up ;)
That about sums me up ;)
Hi Emily, thanks for joining. Feel free to invite other and please vote on the poll at the bottom of the group for what our first book should be. I don't like studying either, that's why I'm not going to college :D

Welcome! Be sure to vote on the Poll for what we should read. Man I sound like a moderator! Sorry about that, I'll try to stop, I am very happy to have you!
Hey everyone!!I just noticed that we have a LOT of new members and less of you are actually joining the discussions. So I just want to say please don't be shy. I know it can be a little daunting because some of these threads have a lot of comments to read through, but we really do want to hear what you all think. Don't be afraid to jump in!

thanks Haley...
maybe I'm little bit shy at the moment because my english is poor. don't mind to correct what I say. thanks everyone ;)
Your English is great! Don't ever worry about that. And thanks for posting on some of the other threads :DI think we have 21 members now, and only 6 or 7 actually discussing, so that was a shout out to all of them as well. I hope they follow your example Nissa!
Seems kind of funny to start a group on a whim, invite about 6 friends and actually have people join!"It gives you a delicious sense of power doesn't it?"-
Actually, I found this group by accident :DDDI don't even check the member of this group, and hell yeah the name of this -Old Books, New Readers- was the power! ^_^
Not to pat myself on the back, but the name is awesome! I am glad you found it by accident. I have been invited to many groups, but I don't usually stay long. The ones I usually stay with and participate in are ones I found by myself.
I guess I have a hard time describing myself. I keep remembering bits and pieces, so bear with me as I try to put myself together. ;)My name is Tabi. I'm 16, nearly seventeen. Writing is my PASSION!!!! and I do it nearly all the time...even if it's in my head. ;)
Some of my favorites are....
Purple, hip-hop dancing, Celtic stuff, horses, drawing (although I'm not really that good) and playing piano (which I don't do as much as I should). I like to write listening to pop music, because the beat keeps my thoughts running.
I want to learn Gaelic and live in Ireland.
I have a VERY active imagination, and I've scared myself making up stories about random people in public, like a serial killer who haunts libraries, a witch who likes to steal memories, and stuff like that.
My dream is to be an actress/author or pop singer.
There, I think that's pretty much it. ;)
Thank you! Although I will be honest, I haven't read very many older books...just maybe around 25...I think. :/So I'll do my best to try to keep up! ;)
Hello, my name is Gabriela and I was graciously invited by Emily. Thank you Em! I love classics but all kinds of other genres too. I am a mom to three boys who also love to read so my tastes in books and music are eclectic. :)
Well then Tabi, this is the perfect place to start reading them! We've been talking about other books and book series on some of the threads, so join those conversations!Hi Gabriela! We're so glad Emily invited you, and even happier you decided to join! :D
That's so cool that your boys like reading. I hope, if/when I have children they enjoy reading as much as I do so I can share it with them!
welcome for Tabi and Gabriela!Tabi, I love writing too! But sometimes I'm often confused to write anything even though I wanted to write. :p
It's nice to see (your) boys sitting and reading a book, Gabriela! I hope someday to have moments like that. ;)
Thank you Nissa for the Welcome and yes it does put a smile on your face to see your children absorbed in a book! :)Of course there was a time not too long ago I was reading all the YA popular novels to see if they were appropriate and I became of fan of YA so now I can discuss those books with my boys. Win win situation.

Cool!
Since I haven't had children and my sister wasn't someone who likes to read, I was just in touch with friends around for discuss about books.
It's so nice to be able to join at Goodreads and have friends from all over the world which has the same passion with me in reading, and in books of course :DDD
Sorry it took me a while to notice the invitation, I haven't checked my email in ages lol, so now I have to sift through them :P But I would love to join! I'm Emily and I read everything old, new and inbetween!
LOL no problem, Hi Emily!Welcome to Tabi and Gabriela! I'm gunna do my moderator spiel now so bare with me!
Please vote on what our first book should be and jump in anywhere!
There that's done! So nice to heard of boys reading, it must be a joy to see 'em doing that.

Thank you...;) Just wondering...who? ;)
Hahaha! Me of course!I love anything Irish, it was what inspired me to learn the penny whistle, but I never got very good. I play piano, draw a little and scare myself stupid thinking up crazy ways for people to kill me. It's amazing I go out in public at all.
I know! But I do because I also get great characters by just watching people and trying to think up a story around them...that's pretty fun.Oh yes, Irish is definitely in my blood...even though its very distant....;) LOVE the music. Celtic Woman is one of my fav.
Oh I love Celtic Woman! I watch their DVD's all the time. Celtic music is hard to play on piano though, makes me sad.
Hmmm, I haven't seen any of their DVD's....just listen to them all the time! My all-time favorite song is The Voice! Lisa sure can get her voice up there...!!!
I love Celtic music, and no one I know around here listens to it! Tabi, The Voice is beautiful! One of my favorites of theirs. I also love the songs Sing Out and Ready for the Storm. Do either of you listen to Celtic Thunder? They seem to do less original songs than Celtic Women, but their voices are amazing.

I've heard Sing Out...and I'll have to check out that other song.
Another Celtic artist that I like to listen to is Deanta, and my fav. of hers is Maid That Sold Her Barley. My little sister asks me to sing that to her every night! ;)
Oooh, ooh!!! I nearly forgot! There's this other band that I think is TOTALLY awesome!!!Blackmore's Night. Celtic...with a bit of rock thrown in some of the songs. It's pretty cool...plus the songs themselves are pretty neat too.
Some of the ones I like are, Peasant's Promise (starts slow, but warms up after a minute) Sister Gypsy, and Far far Away.
