Twilight??Likes or dislikes.
i loved the books i started reading them after you gave me twilight then twilight fever took over the skool..the movie not so great but i still love it i hope stephenie comes out with something new and good.
Oh, Tabby. What a dangerous playground you have given me here! The books are okay; I will give Stephenie Meyer credit for adding some interesting twists to vampire mythology and for creating storylines that make you want to keep reading (no matter how much you hate yourself for it). But the Bella as the perpetual damsel in distress thing? Yawn. Give me a strong heroine who can take care of herself (and if she can be a smart aleck while doing so, double kudos). Also, I never really feel like these vampires are a threat. They just pose beautifully and utter ominous hints as to just how villainous they could be, if they so chose.
wow, great comments.
Hey try to get new members.
Yeah, its true that the vampires are more or less portrayed as, well, angels. I want a cold hearted brutal vampire who kills the star-crossed lovers.
lol, i should write a parody of the twilight books. If i could only stick to one book.

I liked the book when Tabby first gave it to me. The only thing I didn't like about it was that Bella always had to have Edward save her.I don't like the damsel in distress thing. It makes women like as if they cann't handle themselves, and it is so not true there are a lot of strong indepent women. Vampires do need to be more of a threat. It would have made the book better if Bella was a storng indepent woman and Edward was out to kill her, not fall in love with her.
very great point Ren. though it would be a killer point if we add that she wanted Edward dead but the love sick vampire wanted her heart(and all the blood with/in)
Renie please help me with my book.
Answer yes and i will make you a guideline

the book was ok when i first read it, and i like what renie said about edward being out for her heart and bella wanting to kill him, that would make a great book that i would love to read
I think that my major problem with Twilight is that it just isn't something I can connect with and understand, why would Bella be willing to give up everything for Edward, it just semms irational

hey the books were great. damsel in distress in most of the books. in the last one she helps even the playing field? does she get any credit for that at all? come on. and edward, well i liked his character. and everyone elses. but my favorite character was jasper. the book doesnt mention him as much as the others. so in one of the books i think the third one. Stephenie makes up for that in the way she has him having all the info on the newborns and all that. I like his power too. there is a site i dont remember it but its where each character has there own thing. one was about how jasper made edward fall in love with carlisle.... again. it was hilarious. Anyone have a favorite character in the books?
Omg. that was so biased!i understand your point and all that, but i really do think that this book has a bit too much man has to save poor girl in it. am i right?? yeah she does even out the battle but that was one book.
It was a female writer? was it not? you should take it up with her. haha and well its what i think. She evens it out. But dont you rememebr alice? she wasnt just a standy by character she did things. Rosalie. and the other vamps in the other books. What about Jane? was she a damsel in distress. Evil character i know but how can you say that when your looking at just one female character and not all of them.
she is a female author completly sexist against her own feminist side, she should have had to rescue edwards sorry butt-and not from trouble she put on him!!!
Still. she gives credit to the other female characters. Rememeber when she beat emmette that was funny. but i know its just one book. but do you think that edward would be edward without Bella always drawing some type of danger. its her characters flaw. Danger. and its just one series. There are many series out there that have the female saving the guys booty all the time.
she only did that when she was a vampire. even in that book it brings out her feminine flaws: she nearly dies giving birth to renesme. that is a female flaw and a human flaw. i dont like it. some women know that they are as strong as men, in differant ways. some women dont care, and are confident sticking next to a man for protection. i admit that my boyfriend makes me feel safe, but i know that i do this in return, he knows that im here for him no matter what, and i will be; with the knowledge that he is there for me too. Stephanie myers doesnt let that happen in her books, all im asking is for edward to show some flaws, emotional or physical. And for bella to take care of him too. but in FOUR books that ceases to happen.
not true. She keeps him from being a monster. i know it isnt much. but its something. His flaw is his pride.
without bella keeping him calm he would have kill those guys that were going to do something to her in the alley way. or street or watever.
Also if it wasnt for Bella Edward would be like the others said. Sad or something. Bella maybe the "damsel in distress" but she keeps edward happy and at bay with his anger.
But that isnt the same thing, he was doing just fine, he had his 'syblings' and his family, in the draft to midnight sun he does sound happy b.b (before bella)if anything she brought his monster OUt. I think that she should do more than that, the only times she helps him is with the troubles she creates, like thats just something women do, but he should have flaws too, im just saying. He only stayed with her cos her blood smelt 'good'
im not sure about that.... i think its because he couldnt read her mind he got interested in there. but then... he got to know her and love her. Maybe Bella is Edwards flaw.

oh, what a sexist thing to say, well Edward sure as heck was her flaw, she cant help it if the only interesting person in Forks(wtf is the name about n.e ways???) happens to enjoy dranking blood???
edwards flaw is bella it brings out the monster in him when she is around and another thing is he lets his pride get in the way of his desicions. he does love bella but his love is destructive. edward doesnt want to hurt her and he gets lost b/c he deosnt know what to do. one reason is that he has never felt this way bout a girl until bella. he may have been attracted to her blood in the beginning but the attraction grew into a love that is true and rarely found.
ick? i agree with Randa. thats what i was trying to get to you, but your stuck on Damsel and not thinking about anything else. Stop picturing her as a damsel and maybe you can see what me and randa are trying to say.
Its just that i really cant stand books like that, sure i love the whole vampire twist ohh shiny thing, but its just so- idk. The movie ruined it for me, so you kiddos can stop ganging up on me....
:)
:)
well the movies may of ruined for you but remember how obsessed you were for the books, you wanted them all and just remember the fun you had and forget the movies. =)
well i am going to the movie thing tomorrow at the school. haha. with or without you. and tabby ill talk to cody this afternoon
agreed the movie was a disaster i dont think they should of made a movie of twilight...i would of loved stephenie meyer more if she told them not to...*sigh* but wat is done is done and new moon is next to be slaughtered there goes my favorite.
I liked the series (like someone else already said, even if you hate yourself for it). It was entertaining in a PG sort of way.
oh great yea and there is the fact that the werwolves are goin to look horrible...so edward is skittish hmm wonder wat will happen if they make breaking dawn into a movie.
yeah i agree. i heard they will use actual dogs as the wolves. maybe they will try the whole scooby doo affect on him. :(
