I know it's early but I thought I'd post a nomination thread for July. Remember, it has to be from the 19th century. I've chosen two possible novels to read in July: Wuthering Heights by Emily Bronte and Dracula by Bram Stoker. Now I think we should nominate at least two other Gothic novels from the 19th century for that month. Post below whichever ones you think should be eligible and I'll make a poll for them in May!

Sarah | 2 comments I actually really like the idea of Dracula. It's been sitting on my Kindle, patiently waiting to be read for months. lol

Sarah, I have many books both on my shelf and my e-shelf that are patiently waiting to be read.

Does anyone else have any nominations for July?

Paulina (paulinabibliophile) | 192 comments The Lifted Veil This book is incredibly gothic and (this may intrgue some) quite short. It's probably my favourite Eliot novel and not that well known. It's one of those books where you can't quite decide if the protagonist is as special as he seems to think or just plain crazy.

The poll has been made and everyone's suggestions from the 19th century (1800-1899) have been added. There are 4 options. I think that's a good amount for July. If you have other nominations, please feel free to make them in August's Nomination thread in June :) Thanks!

Please go vote in the poll if you haven't already Brenda.

Paulina (paulinabibliophile) | 192 comments Private Memoirs is a great read. I've read it twice! It doesn't look like its going to get picked, but I suggest, Brenda, that you pick it up and add it to your "must-read" pile.

Ashley (booknerdwithoutglasses) I would say Dracula.

message 11: by Louise (new)

Louise I would say either of the two losing atm :(
I've already read Dracula and Wuthering Heights too recently to want to pick either of them up again just yet. Ah well, that's the way it works. Unless there's a sudden surge of interest in the others I'll just hope people enjoy whichever of the two front-runners win - they're both good books.

Sorry Michelle. The nomination thread and poll for July is closed. Please feel free to nominate any of the Gothic novels chosen - or a new one - in August's thread :)
