I would like to read:The Wind Through the Keyhole - Stephen King
Move Under Ground - Nick Mamatas
Some of Your Blood - Theodore Sturgeon
definitely going to read...Let the Right One In
Blood Meridian
Last time I tried reading this one I couldn't get into it (as much as I tried), but for a good, completely terrifying, thrill I'll be re-reading the short story "Guts" from Haunted.
If there is time, I'm going to try and squeeze in Feed as well.
I'm going for The Gunslinger (read a ton of Stephen King but never any Dark Tower) and The Restorer. Time permitting I may also try Ghost Story.

KarenF - FYI, the Dark Tower series does have some (really) horrific elements, but the overall series is more fantasy than horror. (I'd say something like 80% fantasy/20% horror.) The first book, a fix-up of several stories King wrote back in the '70s, is less horrific than the others. It is part fantasy, part western, with horror elements.
I love the series, but if you've read a bunch of other King, you may be let down if you're expecting horror. The series gets better as it evolves, and the first book feels like a prequel to me; it's much less taut and interesting than book 2, for example, so if you like it at all, I highly recommend reading the 2nd book, as it's (in my opinion) the real "beginning" of the series and is much more exciting, with diverse and complex characters. (I read the entire series a couple of years ago during one marathon week during a heat wave. If I hadn't been determined to do so - on enthusiastic recommendation of my boyfriend - I might have stopped reading after book 1, had I not been assured it would get much better in book 2.)
/Dark Tower nerd rant off
Happy reading!
Thanks Candiss! I had heard that the first one wasn't the strongest. I'm a big Dresden fan so I'm used to assuring people "it gets better". And I'm OK with more fantasy than horror. The real reason I never read it is because I worked at a bookstore in the early/mid 90s and every other person through the door was asking if we knew when the next Dark Tower book would be out. Of course, we did not know. I was sick of it before I'd even read it! :)I've recently decided that enough time has gone by for me to read it without developing a twitch thinking about all those customers. And all the hoopla and displays with the new title coming out put it in my mind again so I was glad to see the horror shelf called.
Shadowland by Peter StraubFear Nothing by Dean Koontz
Blood Games by Lee Killough
Somewhere South Of Midnight by Stephen Laws
Messiah by Boris Starling

I commented last month that Joseph Conrad is one of the best at stringing a sentence together in the English language. Peter Straub would, in my humble opinion, come in a close second. I hope you enjoy it Karen.
I am going to try to get to... Let Me In and The Gates since I own the books and I am really trying to get some of the books I own read. If I read those two then I may treat myself to Anna Dressed in Blood.
Here are some from my TBR that I'm considering: Before I Go to Sleep, The Grove, Second Glance or Unwind.None of them are pure horror though but I guess they have enough frigthening elements that lots of people have included them in the 'horror' shelf.
Just figured out that Dark Lover is shelved under horror. So I will be reading that for the month too.

Hmm, I wonder if Dark Lover is there too.

Kristen - I am reading Dracula also.
Kristen - I am reading Dracula also.
So far, I'm planning to read:Let the Right One In by John Ajvide Lindqvist
I need to start reading Stephen King. So maybe, Cujo is a good place to start.
Also considering off my TBR:
Four and Twenty Blackbirds by Cherie Priest
The Woman in Black by Susan Hill
Anna Dressed in Blood by Kendare Blake
I hope to get to at least two of these this month.

I have never noticed that dark lover was on a lot of the shelves... but I have noticed Harry Potter and the Twilight books.
I'm going to definately read Unwind, provided i can find a copy of it somewhere. I also like the look of:
Diary by Chuck Palahniuk
Lord of the Flies by William Golding
Perfume: The Story of a Murderer by Patrick Suskind
I'll see how i go for time.
I'm currently reading Rot Ruin by Jonathan Maberry and I'm going to read next The Vampire Lestat by Anne Rice.
Eeps, May already?? I'm going to attempt one of the following:
Dracula
American Psycho
Darkly Dreaming Dexter

Interested to hear your take on American Psycho. I've considered picking it up several times, but I LOVE the movie so much I don't want to ruin it.
Hmmm... I'm avoiding things I think will be pure horror, but still found more than I can read to put on my list.
I think I'll start with two of Wells' classics:
The War of the Worlds
The Invisible Man
I'll also try at least a couple of:
Drood
Seeing
The Death Cure
City of Glass
Hunger
The Last Days
So Cold the River
And I might also pull out my old copy of the 5-volume Raven edition of Poe's Works
and re-read a few of the short stories. I probably can't handle them all in one month without getting nightmares, but I can at least give a few of them a try.

I'm going to read:The Name of the Star
Anna Dressed in Blood
The Little Stranger
and something by Stephen King, but I haven't picked it out yet.
@DG/Hayley - I loved Unwind and the second book is coming out in September I think...the author has a diabolical mind - at least in a few chapters...I'm listening to The Mephisto Club right now - wouldn't call it horror by a long shot, more M/T/S, but hey, i'm working my way through the series so it works
I heard many good things about that book Dee and have had it on my TBL since last year. But everytime I want to listen to it, one of the Iron Druid Chronicles have gotten in the way (and they are narrated by the same guy so I need to give them a breather.)
i don't know if i could have listened to it, but its a good read - one of the girls I work with brought it in today
It appears that I will be doing a lot of reading this month! I'm going to read:Plague Town
Rot & Ruin
The Restorer
Jenny Pox
Masque of the Red Death
I think there was something else, but I have forgotten it. Maybe I will add more later.
The library books I intended to read last month didn't get to me in time for Alternate History, but they are also on Horror. I have started both:11/22/63
World War Z: An Oral History of the Zombie War
