Midnight roamed around. She wished that she could go "Home." Or, what she called home.

Midnight watched as somebody was moving through the forest. She silently scrambled up into a tree and took out her bow and arrow. She watched as the person stalked her prey. At the last moment, she let her arrow fly and into a deer.

Kyra looked outside the window. A shadow moved in the forest, but she ignored it. She felt safe inside her grandmother's cottage, even if she was alone.

Midnight sat quietly in the trees. She watched a girl stab her knife into the tree. When the girl turned around, Midnight slid down the tree trunk and launched herself at the girl. She landed right behind her and put a knife to her throat. "Welcome to the woods," she said.

Midnight let the girl go. "Just wanted to see what you would do," she said. She sat down in the grass. She walked over to the deer and gently took the arrow out of its eye. "Clean kill," she congratulated herself.

"I'm Midnight," she said as she shook the other girl's hand.

"Well..I like to stay far away from the district," she said.

"Well..that's not totally why," she said,"but yeah."

Kyra went outside. Instead of the first shadow she saw earlier, there were now two people in the woods. She tried to make a slow approach, but she stepped on a twig that made a crunching sound under her feet. She cursed.

Midnight turned around, "What was that?" she said. She quickly and silently grabbed her stuff and scrambled up a tree.

Midnight positioned herself so that she could shoot anything from where she was.

Kyra laughed. She saw the two girls who were armed.

"I'm not going to tackle you or anything," I said. I held up my hands which were empty.

Kyra knew better than to give out her name to people she didn't know—but Hania didn't look like a serial killer. "I'm Kyra," she says simply.

Midnight slid down the tree trunk. "Im Midnight," she said.

"What were you two doing here in the woods?" Kyra asks.

"I live there," Kyra says. "I have a... weird family. They think living around here is convenient. Do you want to come in? I think I have a bit of food left."

Kyra just stood there, waiting for the other girl to reply. Kyra wondered again if they were serial killers. She eyed the knife she kept strapped on her leg.

"I guess.." Midnight replied suspiciously. Though she wouldn't take her bow and quiver off.

Kyra led them inside, thinking that they were harmless. She gestured for them to sit in the dining area, which was just a table with two seats. She took out two spare cans of fruits from her cabinet and placed them on the table. "When's the reaping?" she asked.

Kyra nodded. "I wouldn't want to be in it, either."

"Oh..." she said hoping that they wouldn't recognize her.

"Yeah," she said."I haven't eaten in a day."

Her stomach growled.

"Sorry I couldn't give any more, though," Kyra said. "I don't really have a steady job."

"Since I was thirteen, I think," Kyra said. "This used to be just an extra house of my family... We were quite wealthy then. My parents would send me here alone as a punishment when I did something wrong. When my parents died, I sold their original house and lived in this one."

"That's cool...." she said unsurely.

"I have an older brother, Hans," Kyra says. "After my parents' deaths, he took all the money. He didn't care for me, so he got all the money and fled. I honestly don't know where he is anymore."

((In my first post here I wrote they were neighbors, I changed it.))

"It does," Kyra agrees.

"Well..." she said.

"Yeah," she said,"I need to go..my..uh..um..parents with expect me home soon."

Kyra nodded. "See you guys soon, maybe."

She walked out. She went into the forest and sat down on the grass. Thank God I'm alone now, she thought to herself.

When the two girls left, Kyra walked to her room where she kept a dart board. She rummaged through a drawer until she found an old-looking dart and threw it. As usual, she hit the center.

She climbed up into a tree and fell asleep.

When she wakes up, she notices that Hania keeps on walking in one direction.

Kyra went out to the forest to hunt. She brought her bow and knife with her.

She also sees Kyra from the tree. Oh crap, she thinks to herself, I left the deer in the woods. She silently slides down the tree trunk and runs silently in the direction of where she killed the deer. She finds it on the ground still perfectly intact. She finds a long stick and ties the deer's legs. She drags/carries the deer to the fence and waits until nightfall.
