I read something on the baby fur seals getting killed for their fur, and if the mothers get in the way they get killed to. And worse they were beating them to death with baseball bats. I will see about finding the site... if it is still there.
Ya they do not have it up on the web site I found it on. But you can click here to go to it it in the Humane Sociality of the United States.
uh! I'm looking at the advertisements on the right side of the computer screen, and it says "hunting for seals? get started right away!"

I was reading in my "Spirit Of The Polar Regions" book about gray seals. Here is what it says."Gray seals have benefited greatly over recent years from off official protection. They used to be hunted for their fur and blubber, which led to a dramatic decline in their numbers on both sides of the north Atlantic. they are now recolonizing coastlines where they were once hunted virtually to extinction."

Well, if you're living in a place like the arctic, starving and freezing, you can't really do much else to make a living. Tourism isn't really an option, but that is the only reasonable option, except for fishing. There is too much fishing there too. You can't really grow crops or raise live-stock in those conditions. That's how they can do that. But, I agree. I detest seal hunting, and think that it a horrible thing to do.
