My copy has an author's note in the beginning of the book. If yours does not it says Gabriel's Ghost was inspired by and written to "Put Your Lights On" by Santana feat. Everlast. This group talks about writing and I was wondering what people thought of her inspiration. Maybe how people feel the song/lyrics fits into the book? Etc...

I love when authors have music to go with their work. Stephanie Meyer (don't judge me!) has playlists that match up with all of her books. It was really neat to listen to the playlist and see where the character's minds were at different points in the book (and she has a pretty good taste in music, IMO). Not to mention I think it's a neat way to expand on the feelings expressed by characters, especially when they aren't the narrator.
I just went and listened to "Put Your Lights On." Here are some links to the music video on YouTube and the lyrics for anyone who isn't familiar with it.
This part stands out to me:
I absolutely see how this relates to Sully. He's been hiding from himself (not looking in mirrors!) all this time and now Chaz is (hesitantly) accepting him.
It reminded me of this scene from the end of Chapter 26:

This part stands out to me:
Cause there's a monster living under my bed
Whispering in my ear
There's an angel, with a hand on my head
She say I've got nothing to fear

This is the first time I've seen this kind of author's note in the beginning of the book. Maybe more authors should consider adding their inspirations more often. Also, I think it helps other writers see that inspiration can come from really anywhere. Having writers block listen to music. A whole novel could be there in one song.
