How much of a story do you have in your head when you sit down to write? If you write a chapter, how much of that chapter do you have laid out and how much is just kind of disconnected typing letting the story flow?

Hi Gina- great question! With Shadows Deep, I had to create an outline of the story first because it was a sequel and I wanted to keep my facts straight. Otherwise I usually have a starting idea/image in my mind and I write it all from there. It's a fine balance between letting my characters have enough freedom to do what they want (and they will-lol) and keeping the story moving in the direction I think it should go.
