I'm drinking red table wine from Spencer Family Vineyards. it doesn't say the underlying varietals but tastes like pinot. Might crack open a bottle of Coppola Reserve Chardonnay
Tonight finally a bit of cab - Natura 2010 from Chile. Got on sale. Not bad; not great either but I'll take what I can get!
I finally just got around to reading this—and it was interesting. But what's even more interesting is that there are actually those who can tell the difference. It blows my mind. But seriously, 100 years in jail for faking wine? That is awesome.
“URGENT WARNING—RUDY KURNIAWAN IS TRYING TO AUCTION MORE WINES.”
Sara and her family came by the house on Saturday and brought, in addition to a white wine which I did not try, some really good Red Rock Ale from Opa-Opa in Southampton, MA. Thank you, Sara & Brendan!Who ever said Wine Club couldn't include a delicious brewski?!
I killed a bottle of this on Saturday evening with my friends at D'Parma in Winthrop. Mmm...http://antiwinesnob.com/2008/02/20/re...
I'm about to head up to the Finger Lakes this weekend. I'm buying me some wine so I can enjoy my books more!
Just got back today with 21 bottles of wine, fruit wine and mead and one bottle of vodka distilled from honey. When I crawl out of my wine induced stupor, I'll let you know how they taste! :)
I've cut back on all forms of alcohol since my last gout attack so this one sounds perfect for me...
Reading exceedingly slowly at the moment, hence my silence. Good wine is being consumed more than books, oh dear. It's busy busy busy at work (but all good, holidays soon!), so looking forward to getting the balance back! Cheers!
Keryn I can totally relate.... Tons of work leaves little time to read, but I have had some great wine. Last night I was drinking Maggio Old Vine Zin- it was delicious!!! It's from my neck of the woods, Lodi, CA. I do plan on starting Lolita tonight though. How is everyone else doing?
Whatever...just glad that you're drinking! I had an excellent cold Saki last night with sushi. All I remember is that the bottle was dark blue...
Tonight I'm drinking 50 Barrels (Oceanside, CA) 2012 Ben Dover. Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Merlot blend. It's awesome!! And the name makes me giggle.
Would like to suggest you upgrade (only slightly, pricewise) to Columbia Crest Grand Estates Cab or Merlot. Well worth the extra $2 a bottle. The Columbia Crest H3 wines are also excellent...about $12 in Costco. Cheers.
The Grand Estates wines are tons better, and only about $2 a bottle more. Some of my favorite everyday wines. Cheers.
If you like Shiraz, try Mollydooker "The Boxer." A bit more than the Black Opal, but as you said, you get what you pay for. :)

Also try 337 Cabernet from Lodi...a little-known winegrowing area, producing mainly Zinfandel, but this Cab is a real bargain. Cheers.
I'm a big fan of Columbia Crest. Just bought a case of the "Les Chevaux" 2010. It's a red blend from the Horse Heaven Hills area. Very rich, but I sure wish they'd disclose the blend on the back label. Why keep it a secret? Be nice to know exactly what we're drinking.New discovery: L'Escargot Sauv Blanc from Gascony. Great fruit and acidity without the obvious grapefruit and pineapple profile of New Zealand. Cheers
I can't fucking wait for Friday night. I'm going to have at least three (3) margaritas.Allisen do you need me to make reservations? I see Kim's going but why hasn't Sara responded? Is she not on Goodreads anymore? Gary are you going? Let me know if anyone else is going and whether you need me to get us a table.
Whe!
um, yes we will likely need reservations, yes, you should probably take care of that if you have time. not sure how many people, just noticed sara wasn't a "yes" yesterday. are you bringing cristina? brian is undecided. are brendan or mark coming too? we need a better count! :)
Cristina's a No. So tell Brian to get his ass on the ball and decide. No one else from this group responded except for Gary, who is also a "maybe." Right now I will reserve a table for 6 and I will increase it to 7 or 8 (or more!!!) depending on Brian and Gary and whomever the fuck else.
Okay, I got your message about Brian. That makes 7 and we'll push back dinner to 7 p.m. So that's 7 for 7! If anyone else is joining us please let me know ASAP. See you Friday night!

Tonight I am drinking a 2009 Columbia Crest Cabernet Sauvignon, from their
low budgetcheapskate line called Two Vines.$7, bitches.
