Jason (ancatdubh2) | 912 comments Well. This could get interesting.

Tonight I am drinking a 2009 Columbia Crest Cabernet Sauvignon, from their low budget cheapskate line called Two Vines.

$7, bitches.

message 2: by Nikki (new)

Nikki I'm drinking red table wine from Spencer Family Vineyards. it doesn't say the underlying varietals but tastes like pinot. Might crack open a bottle of Coppola Reserve Chardonnay

Jason (ancatdubh2) | 912 comments Abbie wrote: "But what do you think of their Two Vines line?"

It works for me!

message 4: by Christine (new)

Christine Galvin-Combet | 11 comments Tonight finally a bit of cab - Natura 2010 from Chile. Got on sale. Not bad; not great either but I'll take what I can get!

message 6: by Jason, Cabernet Sauvignon (new)

Jason (ancatdubh2) | 912 comments I finally just got around to reading this—and it was interesting. But what's even more interesting is that there are actually those who can tell the difference. It blows my mind.

But seriously, 100 years in jail for faking wine? That is awesome.

Jason (ancatdubh2) | 912 comments Sara and her family came by the house on Saturday and brought, in addition to a white wine which I did not try, some really good Red Rock Ale from Opa-Opa in Southampton, MA. Thank you, Sara & Brendan!

Who ever said Wine Club couldn't include a delicious brewski?!

message 8: by Jason, Cabernet Sauvignon (last edited Jul 03, 2012 04:50AM) (new)

Jason (ancatdubh2) | 912 comments I killed a bottle of this on Saturday evening with my friends at D'Parma in Winthrop. Mmm...

message 9: by Francesca (new)

Francesca Viola | 3 comments I'm about to head up to the Finger Lakes this weekend. I'm buying me some wine so I can enjoy my books more!

message 10: by Francesca (new)

Francesca Viola | 3 comments Just got back today with 21 bottles of wine, fruit wine and mead and one bottle of vodka distilled from honey. When I crawl out of my wine induced stupor, I'll let you know how they taste! :)

message 11: by Jason, Cabernet Sauvignon (new)

Jason (ancatdubh2) | 912 comments I think I overdosed on mead in ireland. The wine sounds good, though!

message 12: by Jason, Cabernet Sauvignon (new)

Jason (ancatdubh2) | 912 comments Haha, should we read this one month for book club?
Wine for Dummies

message 13: by Gary (new)

Gary the Bookworm (garmct) | 183 comments I've cut back on all forms of alcohol since my last gout attack so this one sounds perfect for me...

message 14: by Keryn (new)

Keryn (khouse) | 110 comments Reading exceedingly slowly at the moment, hence my silence. Good wine is being consumed more than books, oh dear. It's busy busy busy at work (but all good, holidays soon!), so looking forward to getting the balance back! Cheers!

message 15: by Dispatcher209 (new)

Dispatcher209 | 9 comments Keryn I can totally relate.... Tons of work leaves little time to read, but I have had some great wine. Last night I was drinking Maggio Old Vine Zin- it was delicious!!! It's from my neck of the woods, Lodi, CA. I do plan on starting Lolita tonight though. How is everyone else doing?

message 16: by Jason, Cabernet Sauvignon (new)

Jason (ancatdubh2) | 912 comments I cheaped out this weekend on a Black Opal Shiraz.
shiraz
(You get what you pay for, in this case.)

message 17: by Gary (new)

Gary the Bookworm (garmct) | 183 comments Whatever...just glad that you're drinking! I had an excellent cold Saki last night with sushi. All I remember is that the bottle was dark blue...

message 18: by Dispatcher209 (new)

Dispatcher209 | 9 comments Tonight I'm drinking 50 Barrels (Oceanside, CA) 2012 Ben Dover. Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Merlot blend. It's awesome!! And the name makes me giggle.

message 19: by Jerold (new)

Jerold Greenfield | 5 comments Would like to suggest you upgrade (only slightly, pricewise) to Columbia Crest Grand Estates Cab or Merlot. Well worth the extra $2 a bottle. The Columbia Crest H3 wines are also excellent...about $12 in Costco. Cheers.

message 20: by Jerold (new)

Jerold Greenfield | 5 comments The Grand Estates wines are tons better, and only about $2 a bottle more. Some of my favorite everyday wines. Cheers.

message 21: by Jason, Cabernet Sauvignon (new)

Jason (ancatdubh2) | 912 comments Thanks for the tip!

message 22: by Jerold (new)

Jerold Greenfield | 5 comments If you like Shiraz, try Mollydooker "The Boxer." A bit more than the Black Opal, but as you said, you get what you pay for. :)

Totally second this!!! The cab is our go to! :)"

Also try 337 Cabernet from Lodi...a little-known winegrowing area, producing mainly Zinfandel, but this Cab is a real bargain. Cheers.

message 24: by Jason, Cabernet Sauvignon (new)

Jason (ancatdubh2) | 912 comments It was a Purple Moon merlot day for me yesterday. And boy howdy, did I need it!

message 25: by Jerold (new)

Jerold Greenfield | 5 comments I'm a big fan of Columbia Crest. Just bought a case of the "Les Chevaux" 2010. It's a red blend from the Horse Heaven Hills area. Very rich, but I sure wish they'd disclose the blend on the back label. Why keep it a secret? Be nice to know exactly what we're drinking.

New discovery: L'Escargot Sauv Blanc from Gascony. Great fruit and acidity without the obvious grapefruit and pineapple profile of New Zealand. Cheers

message 26: by Dispatcher209 (new)

Dispatcher209 | 9 comments Jerold ~ I live about 25 minutes from Lodi.

Gary the Bookworm (garmct) | 183 comments This is such good news for all us red winos:

message 29: by Jason, Cabernet Sauvignon (last edited May 28, 2014 08:01AM) (new)

Jason (ancatdubh2) | 912 comments I can't fucking wait for Friday night. I'm going to have at least three (3) margaritas.

Allisen do you need me to make reservations? I see Kim's going but why hasn't Sara responded? Is she not on Goodreads anymore? Gary are you going? Let me know if anyone else is going and whether you need me to get us a table.

Whe!

message 30: by Allisen (new)

Allisen Lemay | 62 comments um, yes we will likely need reservations, yes, you should probably take care of that if you have time. not sure how many people, just noticed sara wasn't a "yes" yesterday. are you bringing cristina? brian is undecided. are brendan or mark coming too? we need a better count! :)

message 31: by Jason, Cabernet Sauvignon (last edited May 28, 2014 08:25AM) (new)

Jason (ancatdubh2) | 912 comments Here are definite yes's:

You
Me
Sara
Brendan
Kim
Mark

Maybe's:

Brian
Gary

message 32: by Jason, Cabernet Sauvignon (new)

Jason (ancatdubh2) | 912 comments Cristina's a No. So tell Brian to get his ass on the ball and decide. No one else from this group responded except for Gary, who is also a "maybe." Right now I will reserve a table for 6 and I will increase it to 7 or 8 (or more!!!) depending on Brian and Gary and whomever the fuck else.

message 33: by Jason, Cabernet Sauvignon (new)

Jason (ancatdubh2) | 912 comments Okay, I got your message about Brian. That makes 7 and we'll push back dinner to 7 p.m. So that's 7 for 7! If anyone else is joining us please let me know ASAP. See you Friday night!

message 34: by Allisen (new)

Allisen Lemay | 62 comments tell cristina boo! doesn't she know I miss her? :)
