Aida (taffymyametalumi) Are we supposed to suggest books from Europe in this discussion? I'll just name a few . . . y
The Dark Is Rising Sequence (set in Britain. It's for younger readers, but it's a fun series)
The Screwtape Letters
Jane Eyre
Frankenstein
Twenty Thousand Leagues Under the Sea

Definitely, suggestions are welcomed. These folders are to offer us options to choose from when it comes time to recommend books from the different regions. Recommendations in these folders are always welcomed. If you want these selections to be nominated for a specific month, make sure you let us know in the folder for that month's suggestions (like it was for June - Suggestions for June). Thanks so much for listing these. Great books!

Beth (bibliobeth) Sulphuric Acid by Amelie Nothomb - a French book. Reading it at the moment, described as :
"a shocking satire full of dark humour about the modern predilection for celebrity and reality television."

Adding some suggestions for Russian literature (Europe) for next time around.

Dead Souls
Heart of a Dog
Moscow to the End of the Line

Thoughts?

Val I loved "Heart of a Dog" Sonja, so I would vote for Bulgakov over Gogol this time. (I don't know the other one.)
