Hey guys!

We recently talked to author Amber Scott about Fierce Dawn and as you get started with the book, there are a couple of things you should keep in mind. The first is addiction.

Fierce Dawn is the first novel in the ParaRealm series. In ParaRealm, blood is a drug and any immortal who 'uses' blood, risks addiction. The signs of addiction are what we know as typical vampire traits, including sensitivity to sunlight or sun poisoning, garlic allergies, etc.

As you keep this in mind throughout the novel we want to know what YOUR addictions are. We here at Freebooksy are addicted to free e-books, naturally! Amber says she herself cannot get enough of chocolate, coffee and red wine.

Feel free to share the embarrassing, the mundane, the exciting. Anything and everything! And of course, share any thoughts you have regarding the novel and addiction. Or post new discussions regarding new topics you'd like to delve into.

We'll hear from you soon!

Brandy (scrappydew) hmmm...well as vices go, mine are probably pretty mundane. the books of course, lately cookbooks in particular. However, I also stash fabric everywhere for the potential future sewing project, but i just cant help buying more when I see something beautiful. I've got a deffinete addiction to earl grey tea, pretty much any baked good, gorgeous shoes and ice cream.

Thanks for sharing Brandy! Who doesn't love a warm baked good or a steaming cup of tea?! We certainly don't blame you!

Anyone else have any vices, good or bad, they'd like to share? And how are you all liking the book so far?

Brandy (scrappydew) admitedly, i've only just started the book yesterday. maybe 20 pages into the story. I'm a bit confused with all the people introduced at the start, but i'm guessing as the book progresses that will get easier.

We appreciate your honesty :) And yes, once you get deeper into the plot you should be able to place and organize the characters a bit better than right off the bat!

Brandy (scrappydew) so at 20% into the story i am getting glimpses of the addiction thing, but still piecing together what is going on. Current thought, it seems that Sadies mom and this missing Crusoe may have something together.

Brandy (scrappydew) well that thought was wrong, i've finished the book today. if anyone else read it i'd love to "hear" your thoughts. I found it engaging, despite the confusion. i still have a lot of unanswered questions, but that is typical of a series i guess.

Kayla | 1 comments Addictions...hmmm... well reading is one for sure. I don't think I could handle life if I wasn't able to escape this world for a little while in a book lol Also hotwings! For some reason I just can't get enough of them... yum :)

Mar | 4 comments Well let's see my addictions are also reading and I must say chocolate. Yummy any kind of chocolate will do. My brother a few days ago gave me some chocolate covered chips and I must say salty and sweety works really good.

Brandy (scrappydew) Kayla - i love hot wings too, but only the boneless variety. also, pretty much anything "buffallo" flavored. i found these buffalo flavored pretzels and they are so addictive i can't buy them for the house as i'll eat the entire bag in one sitting.

Mar - fellow choloholic here, i've been eatin pretzels dipped in nutella lately as my after work snack. i try to keep the kids from watching so that they don't start doing it too. those chips must have been great!

Mar | 4 comments Pretzels in chocolate are the best! The chips were great, I recommend them :)

Thanks for sharing guys, we love the comments!

Like Brandy, we hope you all saw the connection between the type of addictions we have and the ones seen in Fierce Dawn (though these are not quite as lighthearted as chocolate and reading, of course).

Also, Brandy (or anyone else) if you care to voice any of your unanswered questions about the novel, feel free to do so here and we will do our best to answer them or shoot them on over to Amber Scott who will hopefully be able to help out.

Again, thank you all for your participation! We will be sending out a message soon on picks for July's read, so look out for that!

Brandy (scrappydew) well, i don't want to spoil the end for anyone who may not be finished yet. i'm am wondering about the whole holly/crusoe thing. also, the ending was definelty a tie in for the second book so i'm hoping that some of the unanswered questions regarding the sister and cousin are picked up in book 2.

You're absolutely right Brandy! Book 2 will reveal new details about relationships between the characters as well as characters' pasts and what led them to behave/act as they do within the story. Thanks for your observations!

And everyone, make sure to vote in the poll for our July Book of the Month's genre! There was a tie, so look out for the tie-breaker poll.

Terri (terrilovescrows) | 2 comments I am up to 15% now and have seen signs of addiction - certainly Elijah's fear of what it may hold for Sadie in his distrust of (oops Name exscapes me now).

I defintiely am addicted to books and stash for cross stitching. Vampire themed books always draw me. And salty chips and salsa and cheeses. LOL
