I know a lot of people seem to think that that one chapter in the seventh book redeems him from six years of making Harry's life hell. However, I think his bitterness was unjust. So what if he looked like James?
Also, I'd like to say, I know a lot of people hate James, too, but he was a teenager. We all act stupid, and boys especially act like jerks. That doesn't mean Lilly should've chosen Snape. Snilly or Jilly, I choose Jilly, all the way.

However, Harry does prove to be quite different from James (for example, not as good as James was in everything, and their personality is obviously very different) and yet Snape insists on continuing to hate him.

Actually, that's the part where I understand him the best... LOL

Well, Sirius brought back memories, you know? It must have been very traumatic, being bullied like that. I know the feeling, whenever I see any of my ex-bullies I always go to the hurt place for a sec. But as I am not Snape but a very different person, I go to the laugh-in-their-faces place next, whilst Snape goes to the hate place next, which again, given his background compared to mine, is all understandable.

Yeah, that part was frustrating. It's just in most of the other situations, I didn't understand his reactions almost at all, and here I understood it perfectly. I don't say I agree, not at all, but I do understand.
