((If you want to write a Reaping post for your character, create a topic that says The Reaping- (Your Charrie's District). WARNING: These Reaping topics will be deleted after the arena is over.))

Causs knew the drill. He had done this Reaping thing for six years. He knew how to dress and where to stand. They were standing in what used to be a stone quarry, but was now very fancy, with flowers and tributes' names carved into the granite walls. The Reaping was a day full of excitement and pride for most boys his age- they would all try to volunteer for a one in twenty-four chance of fame and fortune. Causs was a simple man- he just wanted to work in the quarries. He did no plan on volunteering that day. It was, after all, his last Reaping. He wouldn't have to worry abou it ever again.

He stood four sections down from Felicity Wynn, his little sister. He was glad that she would be safe today. Her only name was in the bucket three times, and he knew a few other girls who were planning on volunteering this year.

GonnaWingIt | 113 comments Melody bit her lip, crossing her fingers. Me, me, me, me, me. Melody Slip. Melody Slip. Melody Slip. The girl who wants to be in the Hunger Games, even if she is killed. Melody Slip, Melody Slip. she began to chant in her head. She began to play with the folds and creases in her dress, as a line of sweat appeared on her fore head. This would be her last chance to ever get to participate in the Hunger Games. Next year, she'd be nine teen, beyond the age limit. Her mother would be so ashamed. To have a daughter that hadn't even volunteered!? She needed all the luck. All of it.

But her name was in there once, for she was a career and was of the age of eighteen. The chances were of the slimmest... but she still hoped, and repeated her chant, over, and over in her head. She shut her eyes, as the lady had finished speaking. As always, 'Ladies First' still applied. Please, please, even if I die, just let me experience the games. she muttered. She thrust a tiny hand into the bowl, and her fingers laced around a small envelope.

"Melody, Slip!"

Usually, if you were from another District, you would think your heart had stopped. But the butterflies flew from her stomach, as relief returned to the young lady. A grin made it's appearance on her face, and she began to make her way to the stage.

Penelope was holding Quinnm, her daughter, very close to her as the female tribute was drawn. She was wearing a simple black dress, as was her cute little daughter.
"Penelope Davidson!"
Penelope screamed. She clutched Quinn. She held on for dear life, for the only thing she could ever love. The peace keepers had to sedate her to tear the now screaming and crying Quinn out of her arms. She woke up in the little room where Quinn sat, quietly waiting for her mother to wake up.
"Mommy!" she exclaimed upon seeing Penny look at her with teary violet-yellow eyes. "Why are you crying?"
That just made Penelope cry harder. she grabed Quinn in her arms and rocked her back and forth, because she knew this was the last time she would ever hold her beloved child in her arms.
"Quinn, I love you... You need to go to Nana's right after this and tell her that I was chosen, and you be a good girl for Nana, okay? Please Quinn, I love you and I need you to be strong... but you are never going to see mommy again." She knew that Quinn, the three year old, would probably not understand a word she was saying, but by the end they were both crying, and they murmured sweet nothings to each other as the minutes flied by. Quinn insisted they play pat-a-cake and many other children games, which Penny agreed to eagerly. As the peace keepers came to take Quinn, Penny kissed her on the forhead and hugged her tight, but let her go with out a fight this time.
"I love you Quinn!!!!!" she shrieked right before the doors closed, and she was alone.

Felicity giggled with her friends as the video ended. Personally, she never really cared about how the games got started. She wanted to see the look on her families face when she came back a winner for her district. As a short woman in a very fashionable purple dress and beautifully long orange eyelashes put in her hand for the girls bowl her heart skipped. Not her! If it was her someone would volunteer and knock her out of the running! She looked back at her brother who seemed very bored and unimpressed. Closing her eyes she heard the woman call a name in her brittly voice. "Lacedred Quinncely!" The girl herself didn't seem to care as she walked on stage. Everyone clapped and that was our cue. She raised my hand as high as I could. Her fake golden nails glistened in the sun, catching the woman's attention. "I believe we have a volunteer! Come on up!"

Felicity walked on stage wearing a confident smirk. She would make her family proud. "What is your name dearie?" The voice didn't sound any better up here.
"I'm Felicity Wynn."

Causs didn't believe that the girl walking up to the stage was his baby sister until she herself spoke her name into the microphone. Her words bounced into his brain and rattled him to his core. His eyes flicked up to the stage for the first time since the ceremony had began. "Felicity," he whispered. His friends around him whooped and hollered for her, but Causs couldn't hear through the horror.

The lady drew a boy's name. Causs didn't even listen to what she said. His hand shot up in the air as soon as the name came off of those weirdly puffy lips. The crowd parted around him as he ran up to the stage. Inhis scramble, he pushed the actual boy tribute off of the stage. "Causs Wynn," he murmured quickly into the microphone. He then grabbed his sister's wrists and looked her straight in the eye with a worried expression. "What have you done?"

Felicity was peed. When she saw Causs running towards the stage it was like alarms ringing through her skull. How could he! This was her dream and he was going to ruin it all! He grabbed her wrists and forced her eyes at him. She glared back at him pulling her wrists out of his grasp. Giving a small snarl back at him, "What have I done?! What have you done?! you're ruining everything!" The small woman seemed a little worried and leaned over to whisper to them but her words weren't kind. "You two better pull it together! Don't make me look bad on camera." Smiling very fakely she leaned into the microphone. "I can bet you two are siblings aren't you?" Frankly though Felicity was beyond angry. Causs was ruining everything, and this lady was NOT helping! Suddenly the giant pearl necklace strung around the woman's neck looked like a great noose.

Causs backed away from Felicity. He knew that he had a problem with his temper and he didn't want to hurt her. He needed to punch something. Someone. He stared at Felicity. "You're throwing your life away."

He stepped up to the microphone. "Yes. We're siblings," he replied shortly. He looked to the woman who had annoyed him so badly. "You don't get enough credit for what you do. You are a fantastic person." He wrapped her up in a crushing bear hug. Somehow, accidentally, his fingers wrapped around the end of her wig. And the fingers tugged the wig off the woman's scalp. In the same accidental fashion, the wig was flung off the stage and into the audience. Funny, how coincidences like that happened sometimes when Causs got angry.

Felicity stared daggers at him. "Then I guess we're BOTH throwing our lives away." Causs was so annoying sometimes. Why couldn't he just sit back and cheer with everyone else?
She watched as the lady now publicly embarrassed was shaking like a chipmunk. The crowd laughed and cheered for Crauss which only made Felicity's ears burn. Even now everyone still likes hi more! Well not this time, this was her moment! "Oh oopsy, sorry my brothers so clumsy! Here let me help you." She bent down pick up her wig but 'accidentally put her foot out so when the woman started to walk around her she stumbled and face planted, breaking a heel.

Causs didn't like being the center of attention. He shied away from the crowd as soon as they caught the wig. It had been an impulse! An impulse that sent the wig away. He thought his sister was mocking him by torturing the woman even more. Causs ran into the Mayoral building and threw a chair at a wall in his rage. He then sunk to his knees and put his head in his hands. He needed to calm down. But what Felicity had said haunted him. He had thrown his life away in volunteering for the Hunger Games. He was so stupid.

GonnaWingIt | 113 comments Melody grinned, and curtsied for the lady. "I am truly honored to join the Hunger Games," she turned to the crowd. All eyes were on her. She wasn't sure if it was jealousy or hope flaring in their gaze. She turned her back to the lady, and curtsied for the crowd, which then granted her a wild applause, and a few, 'GOOD LUCK!'s, and a few 'WE'RE GONNA WIN THIS GAME!'s. She felt truly flattered. Then she waited for her counterpart to make his appearance.

Felicity's fame felt short-lived when she saw her brother run off stage. Today's events finally started to sink in. He was coming to the Hunger Games. There could only be one winner...Felicity ran after him. She chased him into the Mayoral Building brushing off high-fives and 'good lucks'.

There could only be one winner.

Bursting into the Mayoral Building she ran over to the room Causs had come in. She stopped short when she heard a chair burst into the wall. Causs was angry. You should never get Causs angry. After waiting a couple seconds she walked through closing the door behind her. The thought bounced around her head.

There could only be one winner.

His mother slipped quietly into the room. Causs watched her silently lick up the chair and set it upright. She sat primly in it. There were a few awkward silences between them. "What are you going to tell me?" he mumbled. His mother's eyes grew wide with rage.

"You didn't have to to do that! You are not Victor material Causs! If you volunteered just to show up your sister, just know that you already have! In evey aspect of life, you are better than her. And now you've gone and flushed that down the drain," she spat.

He stared at her blankly. "Mother," he said quietly. "She's my baby sister. How could I let her face this alone?" She slapped him. Her nails left marks on his face. His hand twitched. She tore her necklace from her neck and threw it on the ground. She stepped on it with her heel. She slammed the door behind her.

Causs fell to the ground and felt the necklace. Yin. Cold, cruel, calculating, antisocial. That was his mother, and that was him. He slipped the cold metal into his pocket.

Elynnabeth crossed her fingers childishly, although she is a child. "Please don't pick me don't don't don't don't don't!" She said under her breath. "As always, ladies first!" Elle scowled at the stupid, Capitol-voiced woman standing an the gran stage that was set up in center square.
...
"Elynnabeth Eery!"
Silence.
Elle tried to fade into the background. She succeeded for a couple of minutes by curling up into a ball and hiding in the massive clump of people surrounding her, looking for her.
"ELYNNABETH EERY!" the purple skinned, like green haired lady shrieked, obviously peeved that this girl was playing hard to get. Eventually the peace makers found her and dragged her onto the stage, where everyone gasped because Elle is twelve. She tried to smile.
"sorry I'm late, I had to clean myself up before becoming district fives new winner!!!" she said, trying to make a joke, but the crowd was not making a sound, although she knew that in the Capitol they would be going ballistic by now. Suddenly one lonely person started clapping, and the her beloved district went ballistic as well. She grin Ed at them. Maybe I can be a career! She thought to herself as the boys name was called.
"Sasha Riley!"
She barely noticed as the reaping ended and she was shoved in the gray room to await the arrival of her friends. Many insignificant ones passed in a couple of minutes. Elle never got really attached to someone, so even with her mom she didn't tear up. As she got on the train, she thought to herself, hey, this isn't so bad!

It's fine if mother thinks that. I'm going to prove her wrong. She'll see I'm not worthless! Although she silently replayed those words again and again she couldn't stop the first of the tears as they slid down her cheeks. Stop this. You can't do this, why do you always have to be such a baby! More tears rolled down her face each one leaving a fresh tear of shame behind it. Sliding down the wall she curled her knees up and tucked her head in them. She would prove to mother that she could be proud of her.

Then she heard it. The sound of metal hitting the ground. Her heart shuttered and a quake went down her spine. That couldn't of been. No, mother would never. How could she throw away the necklace. The only things that bonded them. The prove that she meant something to her mother. Her hand clutched towards her collarbone grabbing at the cold metal around her neck.

Yang. The symbol of energy, light, and warmth. It seemed dead as she clutched it in her hands. Like her, didn't seem to want to go on.
