Harper O'Connor (chollacactus) OK, it's July 4th already, so let's start with a freebie. Go grab this debut thriller while it's free at http://www.barnesandnoble.com/w/elish...

Have at it!
Meg

Jeanine (jjelizalde) Got it!

message 3: by Sandra (new) - added it

Sandra (sleo) Looks pretty good if it's not a knock off of Indiana Jones meets Da Vinci Code!

message 4: by Jeanine (new)

Jeanine (jjelizalde) Indiana Jones meets Da Vinci Code could be interesting.... :)

message 5: by Sandra (new) - added it

Sandra (sleo) Could be. Hope so since I got it. :)

Thanks, Megan!

Harper O'Connor (chollacactus) Great, now I'll be envisioning the characters talking like Harrison Ford and Tom Hanks. LOL

LOL

Harper O'Connor (chollacactus) How's everyone doing on the book? I'm liking it so far. It's an easy read. There are a few predictable tropes in it, but the action moves along at a decent pace and the characters are relatively engaging. I also like that it's not just another Magdalene lineage story, but involves the relics of another Biblical character. Intriguing conspiracy as well.

Jeanine (jjelizalde) Life got in the way! I'll be reading it this weekend.

Sandra (sleo) I got the first two pages read after your post reminded me. Seems promising. First person present tense is unusual. Is it that way all the way through?

Harper O'Connor (chollacactus) Unfortunately, yes. I didn't realize it was first person, which I don't normally like. But it seems to be working for the story so far.

Harper O'Connor (chollacactus) How's everyone doing so far? I read fast, so I'm done, but I can wait to discuss things. :)

message 14: by PepperP0t (new) - added it

PepperP0t haven't started yet, but i'm a fast reader, i'll start this next.

message 15: by Sandra (new) - added it

Sandra (sleo) Yeah, me, too.

message 16: by Jeanine (new)

Jeanine (jjelizalde) Still haven't gotten to it; I didn't have a chance to read over the weekend. :(

Harper O'Connor (chollacactus) Looking forward to everyone's opinions!

message 18: by PepperP0t (new) - added it

PepperP0t i don't know that i'm liking it yet.

message 19: by Jeanine (new)

Jeanine (jjelizalde) I gave up on it for now. Sorry.

message 20: by Sandra (new) - added it

Sandra (sleo) I'm starting it in earnest.

message 21: by PepperP0t (new) - added it

PepperP0t after 7chapters, I'm putting it aside for now

Harper O'Connor (chollacactus) I hope you'll stick with it. It's a short read and picks up pace.

Harper O'Connor (chollacactus) Anyone complete the book yet?

Also, please feel free to nominate things for next time. Apparently, this one was a flop. LOL

message 24: by PepperP0t (new) - added it

PepperP0t after 9chapters i put it aside, either i'm in the wrong frame of mind or it is a wrong read for me. you did take the initiative to try.

You gave it your best shot :) can't do more than that! It just turned out to be a nonstarter for some of us.

Harper O'Connor (chollacactus) I'm more than happy to keep trying, LOL.

OK, here are three free books and their links for downloading off Tuebl. Which one would most of you like to read next month?

The Help - http://tuebl.com/book/show/id/1677

Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter - http://tuebl.com/book/show/id/403

A Brewing Storm (A Richard Castle mystery) - http://tuebl.com/book/show/id/19843

Here's a little trivia about the Abraham LinColn one: In the movie, they had to actually design a martial art using a woodcutting axe for the character. The actor had to learn the martial art as they developed it.

message 27: by Jeanine (new)

Jeanine (jjelizalde) I've read The Help (great book!) and I've read Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter (also a great book). A Brewing Storm frankly doesn't interest me....

message 28: by Crystal (new)

Crystal (infiniteink) I've already read The Help (which was really good), but I would be interested in reading Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter.
