Okay I know I have already told all my GR Friends how much I LOVE Kristen Ashley because of her (super duper uber) Alpha Males.I loved her Rock Chick SeriesRock Chick, her Colorado Mtn Series
The Gamble, Dream Man SeriesMystery Man and her 'Burg Series At Peace. Not to mention a couple of her stand alone books.
I fell in love with LH books because of her Alpha Males and had yet to discover another author to provide that craving for me until KA!!
What a great thread! There is nothing worse than trying to find a similar author to one you love, especially while waiting for the next 'new release' this page will be invaluable.I for one am going to look up the above mentions authors / series :)
Since I'm waiting for Backfire to come out, I needed an FBI fix.. (those books involving FBI,CIA,ect), I'm reading Mariah Stewart , I've forgotten just how good this author really is!
Another great series is "Ice Series" by Anne Stuart
is the first book in the series (this one kinda reminds me of All the Queen's Men...which made me think of it since I am doing the group read).
Not too long ago I read Kiss An Angel by Susan Elizabeth Phillips and thought while reading it this feels like a Linda Howard book. I really enjoyed it.
Dorsey wrote: "Thanks Nadia! I will need to check it out....I don't think I have read anything by her."
Your welcome, I've read other books by Phillips it was the only book that felt similar to Howard.

Awesome!!
I loved loved Kiss an Angel. I agree with you Nadia that is seemed like a LH book. I also really love Susan Elizabeth Phillips. I know she isn't like LH, but I love the differences.I read Black Ice a couple of weeks ago and while reading All the Queen's Men I thought about the other book.
to me is a more realistic suspense then
LH book was more romance than suspense.

I loved SEP too... she made romance, emotion, humor expertly mixed as an amazing storyline.
I also loved Lisa Marie Rice. Her Hero was super alpha male (which remind me of LH) and with erotic nuance (if I felt LH was hot, LMR made me burning for sure).
You right Dee, LH was more romance, that's why I loved her books. Anne Stuart was heavy in the suspense, I felt it was similar with Karen Rose works.
I dig SEP as well. Adore Lisa Kleypas. Currently infatuated with Kristen Ashley, and when there is not a new LH book to get lost in, I tend to reread JM's "Paradise". Anything Julie James is also a great read.

Dee wrote: "I have not read Kristen Ashley, or Lisa Kleypas. Which books do you suggest I start out with?"It really depends on your taste Dee...Lisa Kleypas is ALOT cleaner (for lack of a better word right now) than KA. I love them both LK is well known for her historicals but I perfer Contemp Romance so I have yet to read them.
I'm the opposite Dorsey, I've read LK historical but not her contemp works. I found them very good. :)

Ok, I have a problem. . . why can't I find any Kristen Ashley books? My library doesn't carry them, I did a search on Barnes and Nobles website and came up with none!?! Where do I find them?
Tonya wrote: "Ok, I have a problem. . . why can't I find any Kristen Ashley books? My library doesn't carry them, I did a search on Barnes and Nobles website and came up with none!?! I believe her rock chick books are available in print but they are the only ones according to my own research into the matter.
her ebooks are available through amazon and smashwords. and I just looked, her rock chick books are available through amazon.
Pamela(AllHoney) wrote: "her ebooks are available through amazon and smashwords. and I just looked, her rock chick books are available through amazon."Looks like only 3 of the 7 books are available and Jeez they are expensive!!
Dorsey wrote: "Thanks Nadia! I will need to check it out....I don't think I have read anything by her."Susan Elizabeth Phillips is a VERY good writer Dorsey! x

Ladies...thanks to all your chat about Kristen Ashley, 'coz right now I was like crazy in love with her Rock Chick series. Gah, her hero is over the top. Freaking in love with her heroes.
I declared KA is my new favorite author.
Dorsey, you were so right about KA... now I am addicted to her books
ps: gosh, why her books so expensive.....
Not sure why the high cost of her paper books Adisty but her ebooks are very affordable which is great if you have an ereader....maybe its because she is self published and its a larger expense to do paperbacks. So glad your loving her too!!
Dorsey, I'm absolutely adore her. Despite editing issue and all that, she is amazingly wonderful storyteller. Her heroes had similar traits with Christine Feehan's and Lisa Marie Rice's, possessive and protective alpha male.
So glad I found her books...

I have yet to read any CF or LMR.....I have a few in my Kindle so I will have to move them up my reading list!! Do you read KA on a ereader?

Let me know if you like their writing Dorsey. I don't have ereader. I read them on my laptop (For a week I abused my computer - always on most of the time).
I finished the rock chick series, and continue on Colorado Mountain, geez Max more overbearing than the Rock Chick series. I like them in fiction, but I guess if I had man like them in my life I'm gonna go crazy.

Wait till you meet Tate in Sweet Dreams any Ty in Lady Luck (my personal fav of the series)!! When you get to these pop over to the buddy read thread for these books and check out my character photos ;)
Disappointed that some of the authors you mention are not carried by our library. I only have time for audiobooks and can't afford to buy them. They do carry Linda howard and Christine Feehan. Have read several of her Game series. I just finished Dying to Please by LH. Very very good!

Kristen Ashley books are not available in libraries or on audio but her ebooks are very affordable around $2.99 each I think....and they are full length books for that price not novellas or short stories.

Have you read them? I also listen to mostly audio books and only get them at the library. I bought myself an e-reader and dropped it. It immediately broke. I think I will wait for the price to drop before I buy another one, or I will wait for them to become heavy-duty.

There are 3 books so far (in order): Deadly Fear, Deadly Heat, and Deadly Lies...I am anxiously awaiting the next book!!!
thanks. I am assuming you have to read the first one first, or are they like the in death series by JD Robb where they are also stand alone books?
I have not read any of the JD Robb books so I really can't compare...they will work as stand alones but I would suggest that they be read in order as all the main characters are in each book.....I am kinda OCD on book series' though, I have to read books in order LOL.

Although I am a staunch Linda Howard fan I've also discovered some amazing authors, who, I think are on a par with Ms Howard, one of them being Suzanne Brochman, I just love her heroes...they remind me of all the strong, sexy men LH wrote about when she was at her best!

I agree with you she is AMAZING. I love a strong sexy hero. I am crazy about Breaking Point with Max Bhagat and Gina Vitagliano
I also love the ones with Robin and Jules
I am a big JD Robb fan. I love her in death books and I can't wait until a new one comes out. I just read Delusion in Death, what a great book. I am also in to James Patterson, Suzanne Brockmann, Kristen Ashley, Julie Garwood, Lisa Kelypas, and Ann Rice.
Have any of you read the Cherry Adair T-FLAC series?I am about the read the fourth one. These put me in mind of the Kel Sabin series, just a little. These are action/ suspense/romance. A few of the later ones have a paranormal twist.
I also like the J. D. Robb series.
I have a Cherry Adair books, but haven't actually read it. I am a super fan of J.D. Robb. She is a constant reread for me.
