I write on Tuesday's. I know it sounds strange because I've been to lots of writing conferences and the authors always say, "Writer's write. You have to get up every morning at five and write for three hours each day!" Well, I'm sorry, I have a life. I love my life and so, I write on Tuesdays. I did this for a year and at the end, I had a book. In three years I've written three books and am just finishing a fourth. It works for me! Do you have a writing or art type practice? How do you renew your soul?

Ckay | 3 comments I naturally awake early and try to write then. But I take notes when I'm waiting somewhere. Part of one book was written in a spiral note while I was sitting on a bus waiting for skiers at Sierra At Tahoe Ski Ranch.
I can do editing in the evening, but if I write, my characters get depressed and can't make decisions.

Jill | 2 comments I run. It takes about two miles to unwind my mind and free it up to get back to a deeper, creative space. I bring my phone with me and often times I will stop and outline a whole concept or illustration into Evernote right there on the trail before I lose it. Then I try to sit down as soon as I get back and finish what I started.

Sometimes a long drive can accomplish the same thing. In that case, I use voice memo to record my thoughts until I can write it down.

LOL! Maybe that's why I write on my day of rest. So my characters aren't cranky!

You've got the new technology down Jill! I'm just able to add character notes on my phone but a whole concept? Probably not!
