I prefer the t.v. series more than the books mostly because of the cast. Do you think that the t.v. show made the books popular?

I didn't read any of the books but I prefer the tv series. Though I did read the Stefan's diaries series and it's pretty good. Read my book review here (http://www.goodreads.com/book/show/77...) to understand more. I think the tv series did make the books popular!
i think the t.v series is much better than the books only because the books make Elena seem like a freak
Can't stand the books (any of them!)I adore the tv series though.
I didn't know the books became popular, maybe because I thought they sucked lemons!
It took me 3 WEEKS to get through 'The Asylum' as I kept making excuses to not read it.....but once I start something, I dedicate myself to finishing it, no matter how long it takes me.
I've finally washed my hands of the books!
Can't wait for season 4, airing this autumn in the UK!
i cant wait for season 4 either does anyone know when season 3 is released on dvd i cant find it anywhere
The TVD series is so much better. It's flipping fantastic. I could go off into fangirl mode and tell you exactly why in a million words it will always rule, but then my characters would run out :)
I liked the TV series as they were more gripping than the book .This is the first tym a media adaptation is better than the book
I've read 4 of The Vampire Diaries books also the first part of Stefan's Diaries and I can say that the T.V show is much better, not only for the casts but for everything!
I thought the books were horrible!! I do like the show, and I like how the characters are portrayed in the TV show better than the books. For example Elena in the books, is weak, depends on everyone else where as in the TV series she fights for herself, sticks up for others etc etc. Def. Like the show better
I really liked a few of the books but I love the show. I agree with what the others are saying Elena's character in the book doesn't stack up to the one on TV. Excellent job casting Stefan, Damon and Matt.
The books are deeper to me than the series cuz everything seemed darker. But I think the cast is perfect. Both serve to make the best of the vampire diaries name
The books. I never really got into the tv show.
the books are pretty cool if you are really ito the story so haters gona hate! just saying. and the tv series are pretty cool to. i like both though... but elena kind of look like a freak in the book but yaa it is sill one of may fav.
Books , of course. I mean when we are watching it we just watch it. But when we are reading we imagine those things in our mind. It effects our mind a lot. ( in a good way )And it increases our imaginary skills.
the books were good it was after all written in the mid 90's and to come up with an enticing concept like this is commendable.the tv series does have its own appeal besides who doesn't love Damon and his smirk..
The TV series. I usually like books better than the movie/tv adaptation of it but the books just drag on.
I think The T.v Series may be a little bit better, but Stefan's Diaries in the books are pretty good.
The t.v series is way better the books got me bored and i wasn't even going to watch the t.v series but when i gave it a try it was awesome from the very beginning i think that the t.v series got the books popular cause i read the books after knowing that there is a t.v series called TVD and alot of people i know did too

TV SERIES! I hated everyone in the book (I couldn't even make it through the first book)--Elena is a spoiled little b***h and Stefan is way too EMO for my liking. The TV Series kicks a**--I'm amazed that they could get so much out of the book to make that good of a TV show--casting is a huge part of that.
TV series FTW!And I am not basing that decision on the fact Damon is hawt.. well maybe a little ;)
Kidding!! I love the TV shows. The story lines are better by far.
Books the tv. series characters are completely different the main character is supposed to be blonde and blue eyes the show doesn't make any sense to me
The books were a little weird. I read the first book before I saw the series. I didn't really like it. but I just love the actors and characters in the tv-series.
The TV series ;the book was all over the place. At least the tv series had a nice flow to everything.
I personely love the TV series because of the cast who are all amazing however i have started to read the books and i do think they are brilliant. They put the TV series into perspective. I am deffinetly team Damon although i was team Stefan in the first series a Stefan was sweet and kind however Damon has now taken on that role in series 4-5 and stefan has become stuck up and arrogrant.
Saying that i think Stefan and Elena are made for each other so Elena can have Stefan and i will have Damon. <3 <3 Damon for ever as MY eternal love
I actually prefer the first four books to the TV series, even though it is one of my favorite shows. Still, I think The Awakening to Dark Reunion had a really good storyline.
i like the book better i think the tv show just put me off the whole story and spread everything like way out of porpaction
I don't believe there is any need for one to be better than the other because they are both didn't. I like the books because the story is deeper, but I like the show because of the way the writers took it. I do however like how the first season is more like the books. Also I like the tv version of Klaus better.
