Lady Lazarus. If you all haven't heard her read it herself, check this out. It's incredible. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=esBLxy...
to arlene writers similiar to sylvia would be anne sexton anais nin and edna st vincent millay, I would say the closest in style would definitely be the first 2, edna is not as harsh in her writing but very confessional as well
Mine are 'Edge' and 'Words' a chilling way to end a book of poetry.
"Nick and the Candlestick" because I think that it shows a side of Plath that we rarely see: her capacity to be loving and caring, but it's a razor sharp poem at the same time.
Maybe this is off topic, but I do actually like the short stories best, in particular "Snow Blitz" and "That Widow Mangada".

Lady Lazarus. Sometimes i feel like i've wrote it. Sometimes i feel like im Sylvia Plath, maybe in my past life or something. Everything she wrote or said are things that i've thought about, or said before. I love her so much.
Mine changes constantly but is currently 'Sheep in Fog' because I just love the use of personification to show her loneliness and lack of belonging, it's a truly beautiful poem.
Caught between three--"A Birthday Present", "The Moon and the Yew Tree", or "Letter in November".The imagery in all three is astounding, and lovely. And the sound of them is lovely, pleasant in the mouth when read aloud. But isn't that true of Plath in general?

Hi Rachael
There was a Sylvia Plath programme on tv a few weeks back and the presenter talked about her time in Yorkshire. Among the poems discussed was Wuthering Heights of which I've fallen in love with.
'The horizons ring me like faggots,
Tilted and disparate, and always unstable.'
She conjours up Bronte Country and the Moors of Wuthering Heights of which I also love..
It's good to share not everyone will talk to me about poetry..
