I think the first post (called 'wordrobe') says enough. If you like words or language in general, come and take a look!

Barbara (bkbsmiles) | 461 comments I'm going to take a look because I am rather fond of words and language.

Katie (katiebakes641) | 75 comments I looked, I like your blog a lot!

message 4: by [deleted user] (new)

Thanks guys! Uh... Girls. And thanks for leaving a comment. It made my day.

message 5: by Barbara (new)

Barbara (bkbsmiles) | 461 comments I will certainly be following your blog!

message 6: by Barbara (new)

Barbara (bkbsmiles) | 461 comments May I share your blog at a Linguistics Group that I belong to at Good Reads? Also, I know someone who is a speech pathologist and has a blog called Lexical Linguist who I think would really appreciate it. Your opening sentence to your recent post is so classic! I din't think you were whiny in anything I had read so far. I do love your with and your style!

message 7: by [deleted user] (new)

sure! please share with anyone who might find it interesting! thank you for the praise. It means a lot...

message 8: by [deleted user] (new)

Also, thanks for your reassurance. I recently read some tips on 'how to create better content for your blog', and it said that blogs frequently have a tendency to turn into whiny rants. So I guess I was afraid it might have come across as a little whiny. But luckily not!

message 9: by Barbara (new)

Barbara (bkbsmiles) | 461 comments I will share now!

message 10: by [deleted user] (new)

Thanks! By the way, please join in my little project for my next post... (then again, I think you've already reached your personal quota, so don't stress it ;))

http://helenaswordrobe.blogspot.nl/20...

Thanks again!

message 11: by [deleted user] (new)

I'm just going to keep posting my updates here; keep you informed ;)
Here's my next installment.

message 12: by [deleted user] (new)

Next installment, about quiet people and how they are all kinds of awesome...

http://helenaswordrobe.blogspot.be/20...

message 13: by Barbara (new)

Barbara (bkbsmiles) | 461 comments I'll check out the project and also the one about quiet people. :) By the way, my friend from twitter/and a language blog for speech pathologists thanked me for the link to your "cool" blog.

message 14: by [deleted user] (new)

Awesome! Say hi to the speech pathologist for me! And thank you for your very elaborate comment ;). It is very appreciated

message 15: by Barbara (new)

Barbara (bkbsmiles) | 461 comments I should say that you do have an original style that I like. If it were original and I didn't like it, I wouldn't keep adding to the USA quota. Well, I need to check out the new post. I will say hi to Tanya(the speech pathologist for you).

message 16: by [deleted user] (new)

Yes, thanks for adding to the USA quota. A little smile always spreads on my face when I see it go up. I think it's a language thing. When native speakers like your writing, you must be doing something right ;)

message 17: by Barbara (new)

Barbara (bkbsmiles) | 461 comments Are you on twitter? It's a great way to meet people and let people know about your blog.

message 18: by [deleted user] (new)

And another post! I struggled with this one, but I did it anyway. About horror movies, feminism and intestines. Enjoy!

message 22: by Barbara (new)

Barbara (bkbsmiles) | 461 comments I should catch up more later this week but will check out a post or two.

message 23: by [deleted user] (new)

... about Elvis, world English and dental hygiene.

message 24: by [deleted user] (new)

... in which I'll be breaking down some holy literary houses.
http://helenaswordrobe.blogspot.be/20...

message 25: by Barbara (new)

Barbara (bkbsmiles) | 461 comments I tried to comment on the Elvis, world English and dental hygiene but I could never get the string of letters right to prove I am not a robot. I ever tried the audio version. I live in the Midwest, which is the dialect of the newscasters. I do like the upper class British accents as they are so nice and crisp.

message 26: by [deleted user] (new)

Well, thank you for your thoughts anyway, Barbara. Hopefully technology won't disappoint next time...

Next one! (I'm on a roll here) About universal truths, whales and teakettles.

http://helenaswordrobe.blogspot.be/20...

message 28: by Barbara (new)

Barbara (bkbsmiles) | 461 comments I hope to check out those universal truths in a bit. You know I don't have dyslexia or anything but those strings of letters are very hard. I had one today where I just had to add something like 12 plus 5 and give the sum to prove I wasn't a robot.

message 29: by Barbara (new)

Barbara (bkbsmiles) | 461 comments I like the first sentence of your diary. I'll try not to judge your diary by the first line lol. I have heard that publishers only read something like the first 12 lines to decide whether or not to consider a book for publishing. Goodness! Sometimes a person may get to the heart of it in the 16 1/2 sentence or the third chapter even. I know they are bogged down with a lot of ready but really!

message 30: by [deleted user] (new)

Issues, issues... They're everywhere!

message 32: by Barbara (new)

Barbara (bkbsmiles) | 461 comments Your lead in Issues, issues everywhere is funny...checking it out now.

message 33: by Barbara (new)

Barbara (bkbsmiles) | 461 comments Read it. I really like how you and your sisters were so inventive with your play. I like that you are not so black in white in many areas of life. I think that may show that you have pretty good confidence.

message 34: by Katie (new)

Katie (katiebakes641) | 75 comments Just so you know, I really like your blog. I have it on RSS.

message 35: by [deleted user] (new)

... and that means a lot to me, Katie! Thanks for being such a loyal reader :D

message 36: by [deleted user] (new)

message 39: by Barbara (new)

Barbara (bkbsmiles) | 461 comments I enjoyed your childhood memories. I like to visit my "happy place." I sent my sister a blog post recently about my next door neighbor as a child that will probably go live soon. Some of the greatest classics of all time were children's books. I love that genre!

message 40: by [deleted user] (new)

I haven't been feeling very inspired to write lately. Luckily necessity sometimes butts in.

http://helenaswordrobe.blogspot.be/20...

message 41: by Barbara (new)

Barbara (bkbsmiles) | 461 comments I go in spurts too. By the way, I did post a link to my blog post about my childhood neighbor, Goldie on my blog. "Bar's blog."

message 42: by [deleted user] (new)

My next installment, about sadness, beauty and my favorite book.
http://helenaswordrobe.blogspot.be/20...

message 43: by Barbara (new)

Barbara (bkbsmiles) | 461 comments Gotta check it out soon!

message 44: by Barbara (new)

Barbara (bkbsmiles) | 461 comments I think it is good to ponder!

message 45: by [deleted user] (new)

"Next!" the lunchlady calls in a bored voice. Or not... Anyway, here's a new one.

http://helenaswordrobe.blogspot.be/20...

message 46: by Barbara (new)

Barbara (bkbsmiles) | 461 comments I shared it on twitter. I am grateful that I feel my life has a purpose. I think I'll write a blog post about that. I do want to say that I knew someone who felt his life had to have a Big purpose to have meaning. A small purpose will suit me just fine, but if I hope I will fulfill whatever purpose there is for me.

message 47: by Barbara (new)

Barbara (bkbsmiles) | 461 comments You mentioned previously that you would be open to mentors helping you with writing a children's book. I participate in a group here at Good Reads called YA Reads for Teachers and Other Adults. We have Group Reads where the authors sometimes participate and provide background information on their writing. You may want to check it out. We are still in the midst of the "Bigger Than the Bread Box" read.

message 48: by [deleted user] (new)

Cool! Thanks Barbara! I'll certainly check it out... I've actually been looking for a group in Goodreads for children's books, but I've never found one. I'll have a look though. A first draft of the children's book is nearly finished! I'm kind of excited about it :D

Thanks for your thoughts! It's very appreciated.
