She was the best, the only one. I loved her and now she's gone. I wipe my hands clean of her grave dirt. I walk away before I can see her coffin lowered in the ground. Her laugh echoes in my ears. I know they look at me. They think I killed her. They're right.
I wanted to tell him. I wanted him to ask. We always talked about it, but I never knew. Was it what he wanted? I could ask him, but I'm afraid. Forever is a long time. I should be sure. He should want it. I could ask what he wants. What if he says no?
I can't see, it's too bright. I can't hear, it's too loud. I can't speak, there's just too much to say. My eyes are closed and yet I see. My ears don't listen and yet they hear. My lips don't move and yet they speak. There is nothing but abstract nonsense, repeating itself yet again.
God it's done and barely anyone bothered to sign up.Don't be insulted by my choice.
first place: Rikka
Second place: Katie
Third place: Nicola
Somehow people don't really bother with the weekly writing competitions since stuff like the poetry competition is easier I guess :(
I'm not insulted. Thank you. :). At least it wasn't so bad you wanted to skip third and put me fourth. :)
And I agree with Rikka.
And I agree with Rikka.
Weekly writing is easier for me too. I was married this past weekend and really just couldn't swing the time to get anything out.

They should each challenge you equally. But that's just me.
Well, I don't think that's true. Prose and poetry are VERY different things. Your mind is in a completely different state. Sure, you could write suckish poetry, and in that case poetry comes super easy to me! But as I have been writing prose since the age of six (I have proof) and poetry is more recent and when it comes to writing I'm a perfectionist, and then take into account how filching DIFFERENT they are, I think you can understand how very wrong you are.

I think that poetry appears to be easier because a lot of people just put random line breaks in a stream of consciousness. Poetry should be more challenging than that, you should think about rhyme and meter and stuff like that. Prose should challenge you as well, but you could be more accustomed to one form or the other.

But the poetry just seems to come a little easier to me because I've been doing that longer and you don't always have to write a long piece to make it beautiful. But prose sometimes is more challenging as there's stuff like exposition, development, climax, etc so there's more to think about. Not that poetry is easy but to some it might be less of a challenge? But I'm sorry for assuming everyone saw it as I do, lots of people might enjoy prose more as well.

So this competition is a bit different. You must use 55 words - no more, no less - to get your point across. This idea was taken from a video : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=25jAeM... You are welcome to watch it if you are confused.

I'm judging so I'll show you mine now: I dream, I breath, I love, I hate, I want, I sing, I read, I dance, I watch, I look, I listen, I hear, I can't, I can, I forget, I remember, I try, I need, I kiss, I hug. I do. Do you? I think you do the same as I do. Please do.
