The only Levi book i have read is Dark Hollow(which i think is a prequel to Ghost Walk).I'm slowly working my way through all of Keene's books and i think Ghost Walk might just be next up.I just looked up Keene's website he does have a new Levi story, but don't get too excited, check out the price http://www.briankeene.com/?p=9634
Definitely,it's a sure way to lose fans if no one can afford to buy your books.I just wonder if he's having problems with a publisher since the leisure fallout.really,3-4 year wait on paperbacks is just ridiculous.Tabitha,it might just be time to take the plunge and buy a kindle. Most of his books are available at a decent price.
I have the basic kindle touch it's nothing flashy but it does the job.I still do read books but due to price and availability i do most of my reading on my kindle now.I have discovered some brilliant authors on kindle that i would never have found otherwise, and most them have been free or really cheap.I don't know if these authors are your thing, but I am a big fan of Blake Crouch and to a lesser extent Kilborn/Konrath.I think i own just about everything they have released and only paid for 3 or 4 of their books.I hope this helps as i haven't read Jodi Piccoult and don't know her style.
I have heard of Jodi Piccoult.I just don't have any idea what she writes.I think i can safely say chic lit ain't my thing either.lol.A good Crouch book to start with would be
Abandon or if you like short story collections Fully Loaded Thrillersboth books are stunning.Let me know what you think if you give him a try.
My library is pretty bad too.It doesn't really have any indie or up and coming authors.Your okay if your looking for King or Koontz, but anyone else,It's off to amazon and getting the wallet out again.I better hope your not disappointed in Abandon after me talking it up so much.LOL.I bought Dead Sea today, anyone read it?.
Awesome list Tabitha, thank you.I'm actually half way through Laymon's The Cellar and enjoying it.I picked up a stack of his paperbacks at a used book store a few years back and I am slowly working my way through them all.Although there is never a dull moment in any laymon book,i think this might be the most disturbing i have read by him so far.I'm looking forward to see how it all ends up.I will return the favour Tabitha and list a few authors i like, which are not on your list,Maybe early Herbert would fall under splatterpunk but not the rest.
James Herbert(early Herbert "The Rats Trilogy","The Fog"brilliant books)
Adam Nevill("The Ritual" one of the best books I've read this year)
Ania Ahlborn("Seed"great demon possession book)
John Ajvide Lindqvist("Little star" really weird but great)
Gillian Flynn("Dark places"messed up characters and great suspense)
I think I'll stop at that for now.I could go on all night.lol.Anyway most of my favourite authors are on your list and I'm pretty sure you must be tired of reading this by now.lol.
