Interview: Marissa Lingen
"More adult stories should be stories of friendship. Friends are the best." Agreed.

A Piece of the Continent: 3* Two friends are going to Alaska with their grandfather's ashes. One has an evil mother who does magic and they stole the ashes so the mother sent a "storm" after them? The grandfathers protect them. I wanted more explanation, but the friendship element was good.

Sweat and Skin: Skipping this one. About sex (I have no issue with gay sex in particular, just with sex in general, so this is not for me)

We're Looking for the Best: 3* MC is being fired and broken with on the same day. She meets a former boss, who takes her to a test before a job. She has to haunt her former boss. She has an idea to revolutionize haunting, ghosts will haunt in the light now. Why are the ghosts doing this? What do they get from haunting?

End of Play: 2*? I like the idea of a ghost actor in a play but it's very confusing.

The Year Without Sunshine: Very good, can see why it is nominated for awards. 4* for now. Neighbourhood is organizing when things get worse (food, power, fuel, heat). Hopeful note at the end. Boy from a different neighbourhood wants to join. Helping Susan get the oxygen she needs (teaching crochet and occupying kids).

Interview Jeffrey Ford was fine. Not going to check out his dark fantasy/horror recommendations though.

The Pandemonium Waltz: 1* I didn't like anything about this... a guy is listening to his neighbour described what happened during the experience and the weird vision he had. His wife is being told by the neighbour's wife her version of the events. The guy is obsessed, follows someone who might be Maestro Callus, then gets eaten? Maybe? He also went to dance with his wife and losts his step.

The Quiet of Drowning: 2* The MC is seeing another version of herself, but I wouldn't call this short story speculative... MC got caught at camp cutting herself, she spends a few days in a psychiatric hospital before being discharged, even though she cut herself again? Doesn't make sense to me...

Esqueleto: 1* Not sure what that story is, really. A mother and daughter live in the skeleton of a whale?
