Not sure I’m enjoying it. The English language difference between the main characters is discernibly contrasted and it makes it complicated to read. I also just found out it’s book 7/8 so might need to move on 😬 difficult read

Grippen, by far, is the funniest and most well-written character of the book, and his dynamics with 'Jimmy' is the best.

I have such respect for Lydia: when the moment had came, she abandoned her house, her family, her country - and, most importantly, her research - and went to France to be a Voluntary Air Detachment nurse at the front lines.

I have such respect for Lydia. Honestly, she was a rich heiress who knew little trouble (and some vampires) and enjoyed her scientific research, but when the WWI came, she abandoned it, her family, everything and volunteered as a nurse.
