I’d hate to DNF this, because I paid cover price for my copy, but it’s just dreadful so far. Totally sterile prose.

I take back the negativity in my first update. Aside from an occasional clunky paragraph, this is petty fantastically constructed.

Finally got interesting! Enjoying it now.

Not very impressed so far. Comparisons to Pynchon and DFW (from Bret Easton Ellis’s review) seem ridiculous — the writing isn’t anywhere near that level. I’m in the process of buying a house, though, so this seems like the perfect time to read it if I’m ever going to.

Gaining steam again!

The prologue was fantastic — some of the best prose I’ve read all year — but Part I was a total slog. Hoping it turns back around in Part II.
