Lallo has reminded me... once again that fantasy, good fantasy that is, really relies on compelling relationships between characters and their relationship to their world. I'm 92 pages in, almost half done and I'm already more invested in this than the entire 700+ slog-fest that was the last WOT book.

Rustle and Eddy each have distinct personalities but together they have a sort of odd couple quality about them that is very entertaining.

I just love the way Lallo writes fantasy. It exudes wonder and the fantastical and really develops the core emotions of relationships between the characters.

Eldritch mixes with tech and creates another unique story with ghosts and the sea in Andy H.'s "The Big Blue." Quite creative.

DL Garvin's cryptid in "The Kraggu" was an interesting and creative foe that presented quite a challenge for humanity.

Sarah Moon offered up something new in "Patch of Doom," telling a psychological type of thriller that showed good range and was the first story that gave me a surprise ending so huge kudos for that.

Dude!? Seriously! What did I just get done saying. In Andy H.'s "The Deep Ones," we have a whole other set of people messing with lovecraftian issues and forces that are best left alone. People can be so dumb and Andy sure shows that in a very entertaining way.

Tyler H. offers up some modern day oceanic Indiana Jones action in "Secrets of the Sea." Dude... folks gotta know it's a bad idea to mess with ancient artifacts.

The anthology takes a 180 with Clawmaker's "The Isle," which weaves a beautifully heartbreaking tale of love, loss, and destiny.

Winona Morris has a standout story in "The Bait Was Cast." Very creative. Very impressive. I liked it a lot.

The maritime setting featured in Jerry Blaze's "Sound of the Shadow" has chaos, murder, and mystery that creates waves of blood almost as large as the ocean upon which the story occurs.

John Russell weaves a delightfully haunting tale of oceans and the seductive siren song in "An Ocean Song."

Colt Henderson told a tale of an epic oceanic cryptid and a jerk who gets what he deserved.

Next up on my reading in this collection was Thomas Stewart offering some lovecraftian-styled cryptid action in "The Horror on the SS Esquire."

Ryan McGregor creates an atmospheric survival story with the environment a chilling character in "Cold."

A very insightful introduction on the concept of fear and what it does to us and how we cope with it.

Up to Part 8. That one brother.... low down dirty dog! 😅

Up to Part 7. Getting a better idea of the creature featured in this book.

Up to Part 6 now. That was a hella interesting twist we just got.
