I've slowed down on this bc I have the audiobook but I recently did a deep dive back into welcome to night vale, forgive me ms jemisin I'm not ready for this one to end

This book is so enjoyable to read, honestly the only thing keeping it from 5 stars so far is the frequency of pop culture references that are absolutely going to die out in a decade or so. But even if it doesn’t end up being a classic, we’ll see if it lands back that fifth star in my heart. 🥰

A note: Hank does a really good job of both preparing the reader for what to expect, and also delivering the story from the perspective of a character recalling past choices. April May is mostly unlikeable, but her flaws are uncomfortably relatable, and the narrative reflection of her mistakes allows the reader to face their own bad choices.

I’m so enjoying Gideon but I feel like I’m reading for ten years and making ZERO progress. 😭

When will male authors be able to write a male protagonist who isn't a total sexual predator toward the women in his life? It really takes away from what is otherwise an incredibly engaging story.

I picked up this audiobook on a WHIM because of a Tiktoker I follow who is obsessed with the series. Within 24 hours of purchasing, I've binged 5 hours of the audiobook and 3 episodes of the first season of the TV series. I'm obsessed.
