“Mary is a mold capable of forming people into the image of the God-man. Anyone who is cast into this divine mold is quickly shaped and molded into Jesus and Jesus into him. At little cost and in a short time he will become Christ-like since he is cast into the very same mold that fashioned a God-man.”

If we desire to magnify God in our souls, we, too, must be willing to draw near to Christ's cross and be pierced by the sword. Jesus is looking for souls who are willing to follow him in his passion. In the Gospels, large crowds flock to Jesus to watch his spectacular miracles, to receive healing, or to be fed from his multiplication of loaves. But few seek out Jesus in his passion and draw near to him on Calvary.

“If we sincerely tell God that we will pursue his plans for our lives—if we tell him that we will do whatever he wants—we should not be surprised if he takes us up on that offer from time to time… If we are to be like Mary, a servant of the Lord, it is not enough to be open to God's will. We must be willing to let Jesus act.”

We’re so back.🤘😭🙌

“Coming home and staying there where God dwells, listening to the voice of truth and love, that was, indeed, the journey I most feared because I knew that God was a jealous lover who wanted every part of me all the time. When would I be ready to accept that kind of love?”

“people could see their pain as simply dumb suffering, the offscourings of an indifferent universe. Or they could see it through the lens provided by the sacrificial death of Jesus, appreciating it as the means by which God is drawing them closer to himself. Suffering, once joined to the cross of Jesus, can become a vehicle for the reformation of the sinful self, the turning of the soul in the direction of love.”

“But the true king, the true emperor of the world, is born in a cave outside of a forgotten town on the verge of Caesar's domain. Too weak even to raise his head, he is wrapped in swaddling clothes and then laid ‘in a manger,’ the place where the animals eat (Luke 2:7). What Luke is signaling here is that Jesus had come to be food for a hungry world.”

“On the day of judgment we will not be asked what we have read, but what we have done; neither will we be asked how well we have spoken, but how devoutly we have lived.”

“John is not just one of the prophets, he is, in some way, the most necessary of all the prophets, the one who prepared the way: that narrow and hard way which leads to life, over which all might come to Jesus. This implies that there is no other way to come to Christ except through the way prepared by John.”

“For while habitual faith is infused first at baptism, that faith becomes actual through the witness of the sacrament of Matrimony. The sacrament of Matrimony is the first sign by which Christ is glorified, and children first learn to believe in Christ's love for them; they first become disciples through the marriage of their parents.”

“I once heard a story told by a silversmith that the way he can tell that the purification is complete is that he can see his image reflected in the molten silver or gold. So too, God's purification of our souls is complete when He can finally see His image in our souls.”

“John was unlike every other prophet. All of them had foretold the coming of Christ from afar, but John foretold it as something near, and almost present. And he himself witnessed and obtained the very blessing which he foresaw and foretold.”

“And so the spirit and power of Elijah did not consist in miracles, or condemning his enemies to death, or even in preserving his own bodily life… Though John worked no miracle, his very life was a miracle of moral perfection. And though his foes triumphed over his body, his spirit remained firmly rooted in God and in the hope of the resurrection.”
