I’m so glad I reread the Hunger Games series (minus the Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes) before reading this book so I could appreciate the details. At the end of Book 3, Haymitch moves back to the Victor’s Village in 12 and he raises geese. In this book, we learn his love, Lenore Dove, raised geese. Lenore’s uncle, Tam Amber, made the Mockingjay pin Madge gives to Katniss.

Dr. Hale’s description of her book, The Anatomy of Fear, really makes me want to read it…until I remember she and her book are fictional characters in Never Lie.

“Just remember: if one bird carried every grain of sand, grain by grain, across the ocean, by the time he got them all on the other side, that would only be the beginning of eternity.”

Some of Capote’s imagery is just wild and a bit harsh considering these are based on real people, “ but neither Dick’s physique, nor the inky gallery adorn it made as remarkable and impression as his face, which seems composed of mismatching parts. It was as though his head had been halved like an apple, then put together a fraction off center.” I don’t know who Dick is yet, maybe his face will deserve the critique.

Alexandra Seals is reading The 7 1/2 Deaths of Evelyn Hardcastle
This is one of those books that kept me reading past my bedtime. I couldn’t help but think about all the twists & turns later after I’d put the book down. The writing is fantastic. You start to get a sense of the character apart from each “host” he inhabits. It’s a lot of info to keep straight, & I certainly wasn’t clever enough to solve the mystery before the main character, Aiden, but I loved following along.
