So Thomas appears to be an "Anchor" (one of the entities that lives in Old House and seems to like trapping people there). Like, we saw from Allison's POV how he took over her family and erased her from it so everyone would think she was insane. And I think ATP he does the same to Eve, up to and including changing her name.

Shame I don't care about these characters and the docs are the only thing keeping me going...

Right now I'm mostly here for the interstitial documents. I'm not sure what to make of the main story. Sure the world is changing around Eve and that's creepy, but it's unclear if that's a creepy I fuck with or not.

We're off to a REALLY good, creepy/horrifying start! Sweet relief after the tail end of Tripping over Twilight and I hope we can keep it up

Some writing advice I have been given is that when you finish a manuscript, lop off the first chapter and go from there (I myself lopped off a whole first act once). I think that happened here and right now I feel like it very much should not have. Part of horror is opening on things going normally and then slowly ramping up, no?

It's good that the interstitial document parts have fun little clues but I'm not quite clicking with the creepy family storyline at all.

OK, I concede, "Mrs. Blackmore" is not completely unlistenable. But it's so, so, SO difficult. I think I'm about to tap out of this one.

I crashed headfirst into "Mrs. Blackmore" and I think I'm having the same problem with that that I did with "In the Pit." Basically, they both give the game away too early, and then the rest of the story just becomes an underdog action story against a big scary threat. Which is just boring.

I feel like I wasted my time on that stupid fucking pit. Maybe I skipped over something important but I don't care to check.

"In the Pit" is such a hard one for me. I don't give a damn about the asshole stuck in the pit but I NEED to know if Arlie is a latter-day Dunwich Horror

Also I know the prison tale isn't hitting with everyone (and some of the attitudes expressed by the characters at least are... dated) but I'm already getting a Michael Myers vibe off the creepy kid in the story with in a story. Expressionless eyes, not much of a talker, violently slaughters someone...

And I may be wrong now but I think either Alexander is a vampire, Amaris is a ghost, she's up to some hinky shit, or some combination of the three

So we've gone from Lovecraftian Call of Cthulhu vibes to Lost Hearts vibes. And im growing increasingly convinced the cat is somehow culpable.

I hoped and prayed the straight girl in "The Eaters of Men" would grow some fucking standards but alas...

"The Woman at the Door" is the best one so far

Y’know I could in theory go off about how this supposedly egalitarian space empire (besides being, well, an empire) has had three consecutive male emperors and we've yet to see a woman's ass on that throne and two female contenders have died violently about it. No word yet on whether this was as intentional as Atar's death.

I love this fight so much.
