This was a recommendation and not the kind of book I would usually pick up, but I’m surprised by how much it’s pulling me in. It feels like a slow dissolve into fog. It is absurd, bleak and strangely hypnotic. I find myself torn between being repulsed by the narrator and deeply empathetic toward her. She is utterly absurd and I love it.

Winston’s and Julia’s love reads less like romance and more like philosophy in action; proof that intimacy itself is resistance. They’re reclaiming the right to feel human. What i love here is how rebellion doesn’t look grand or violent, it looks like two people daring to create a private world inside one that insists privacy doesn’t exist. It’s incredibly tragic and also incredibly moving.

What fascinates me is how even a diary entry becomes rebellious when reality itself isn’t safe. It’s not just dystopia, it’s the quiet tension of keeping your own mind intact while the world tries to rewrite it.
