Well actually...

This just isn't my kind of humor, and the bulimia joke was the last straw.

This is a slow read because I am reading every spell and recipe top to bottom because it is all lovely. Major points for so far using real herbs and not fussing around with expensive/potentially harmful to children and pets essential oils like so many of these books do. Everything is so heartfelt and simple, it is making my heart sing. I have been missing magic.

If I was the type to be embarrased by what I read I'd be so embarrassed to be reading this crap. The whole concept is pretty gross, the sex mostly seems consensual, and I still feel the need to know how it unfolds. Ick, me.

I gave this to my spouse for valentine's day which is probably weird. And then I immediately took it back to read which is probably rude. It's not working so well for me as a text vs the readings which I am a huge fan of but I'm still enjoying myself.

I am CHARMED

This currently isn't working as a read aloud. We'll come back to it, it's certainly fascinating! I think I might need to read it solo first to find the flow.

I'm already pretty sure this will be lucky to get 2 stars. The one Black student, Mr. Token? St. Ivory Academy? Alabaster station?? Headmaster Lynch?! I dunno, I'm not laughing.

I really find her writing just carries me along no matter what the story is.

This was really really bothering me and then it turns out my copy is missing a big chunk so that was a great excuse to stop reading.

Well... decifering the language is probably good for my brain, I guess? Not that a challenge is usually what I'm looking for with my graphic novels haha

Well this is nostalgic

Oh wow. Okay. So this is one of my favourite topics. But. This was updated in 2012. So there is seriously no excuse for dressing up as "pilgrims and Indians" (SERIOUSLY) or joking that someone clearly has girls not boys if their kids aren't racing to the dinner table. The writing is also clunky and dated (i.e. mentioning IM and then explaining that means instant messaging.)

Everyone says stuff like "yo, whazzup" and "chya" and it's really throwing me off. My kingdom for some better dialogue...

I have the feeling I would have loved this as a kid but currently the not so great writing and super flat characters/bad dialogue is kinda putting a damper on it. But I've heard great things (... from a book character...) so I'll keep at it!

I like this a lot so far but I vehemently disagree that extroversion is crucial to happiness, or introverts need to "fake extroversion" That seems like a case of not knowing what introversion is which is unfortunate with a book like this.

I like this so much more than other plant books I've read!!

I just discovered I've know one of the editors since elementary school so that's weird and cool. I didn't realize this was going to have so many trans/non binary guys and I'm really happy about that.

I have been waiting foreeeeve for someone to return the lone copy of #1 (it's weeks overdue and now I'm worried it's damaged/lost) and I can wait no longer. I really hope it isn't crucial to the story. This series is just so cute, it's taunting me and I need to start it!
