This is not a book to read lightly. Beautifully written and narrated; horrifically real and unflinching.

One of those audiobooks where the narrator is making it even more boring. My audiobook version only included two sentences from chapter 7 before skipping to chapter 8, and so I grabbed the ebook to read the missing portion. And suddenly, I had more interest! A shame.

Absolutely goofy. Very cute. Weirdly realistic for an aimless 30 year old too scared to grab opportunities. I am enjoying the read, even if I want to yell at the MC sometimes.

It’s not long but it’s DENSE. Every few minutes I’m rewinding to re-listen. LOTS of bookmarks in this one.

Reading a poetry book feels like something I should do over months, not days.

Recently I was telling a friend how I didn’t like poetry because when I read it, it sounded too stilted. But lying in bed this morning, wanting something to chew on before facing the day, Libby said “why not try it” and here I am reading it and liking it.

When do I finally give up on this book? Can I draw the line at the capitalism-glazing, union-deriding chapter?

I am enthralled.

About as enjoyable as listening to a newscast of the politics of Croatia without knowing anything about Croatia. Does someone on Tumblr have a character sheet I can reference?

Reading this feels like drinking alcohol, which, admittedly, is apt. A stinging in your throat with secondhand pain, gorgeously buzzing prose, and the ever-present reminder of getting closer to death hanging on every sip.

I’m not in the mood for alcohol right now though so this gets a pause.

I’ve been letting myself enjoy this book and generally have been having a good time listening to it, but I am now approaching the “you dumb idiots” portion of the story where I am incredulous at the extreme oscillations from thorough check ins to blatant lack of communication between these two. If this next arc is more mutual wistful self-denial, I might bump this up to 3x speed.

Is this the esteemed documentary *The Secret* (2006)?

Dense but tasty.

So glad I’m listening to the audiobook so I can just hear the music he’s referencing instead of needing to pull it up while reading a physical book.

Every time I read this book it smacks me in the face with the brutality of the global reality.

Mixed feelings and an interesting read, for sure.

I understand why this surged in popularity recently. Very much enjoying this and grateful to my friend for spurring me on to read it.

I vehemently dislike this book.

Some decent takeaways. The writing can be horrifically repetitive though, literally saying the same sentence multiple times.

Wildly dramatic and a bit over the top, but cute. I have to suspend more of my disbelief than I had initially expected.

Both loved and hated the first third of this book about Giselle. In the ways that I hated it, I still have to respect it.
Art feels so hollow and yet so impactful.
