Not to fond of the language usage deterioration in this series. Not to mention the characters are starting to act cardboard cut outs of people. Hope things improve or this may be the last of this series I read.

SOMEONE in this series needs to start PLANNING interactions with the Bad Guys® because just about every bad guy/good guy interaction was just off the wall terrible and Ezio and Cazimir supposedly have military backgrounds. Selfish whining from the good guys is never a sexy look. Ezio needed a slap always whinging about how it was his fault or how he shouldn't allow Cyrus (a grown man) to do something dangerous.

So, I think I'm fairly deep into the novel, which I started last night, and this is a) a women's power fantasy and b) not as hard edged as I'd hoped. Ah well...

Taking my time with this because there are any number of good insights that never occurred to me. Also, it's a library book and I have to return it so someone else can give it a go!

Alice Winters writes the most engaging sociopaths. Liam is among her finest creations. Leland may have his upsides, but he's too over the top with his silliness for me to take him or the Hitman's series seriously. This book seems much more realistic, thankfully. Liam end up neck and neck with my other favorite Winters' MC, Landon. I hope both Leviathan and Liam get many more books!

Love Cari Z, but I'm not feeling this one yet.

Ok, what the hell AJ? Cliched plot, dialed in characters, inane dialogue, painful insta-love. Usually you give a certain level of clever & dark with over the top moments to be amusing. Fluff that has a little bit of an edge. There has no believable edge. I feel like you pulled a James Patterson on me; let someone using an AI throw together a story and publish it as you. *sigh*

Trying to get myself to read... I love TJ Klune, saw a shiny cover I've never seen before and got it. Aaand, I've already read this. It was not one of my favorites. Trying to get myself to try it again, and, I swear!, I have, but I got to the initial confrontation and just... didn't feel it. The same way I didn't feel it the first time. So trying to get myself to open this and try again,,,, Not working.

It's actually a print book, I don't read these anywhere near as much as I used to. Love danmei though!

Started second story earlier this week. Like this set of narrators. She doesn't lisp and he has a great voice for Curran.

So, not loving the stalker aspect of Considine showing up at her job and slapping nonconsensual kisses on her and NO ONE - not even Jade herself - telling him to step the fuck off.

So far, young adult level inability to separate lust from basic mental functions. It's not a good look to have one of the main characters (especially one in an important government position that literally has to do with enforcing life and death related laws) unable to keep their mind on the job.

Strong historical start. Began to falter a little when we switch to the brother as POV. Still trying to decide what I think overall.

I really have no interest in reading about one of the characters and every time I run into their part of the book it stops me dead in my reading tracks. Not sure if this will become DNF despite me liking large chunks of it or if I will find a way to skip past them - they way I would in a paper book.

So, hit a pothole on this one, Not feeling the urge to dig myself out just yet. Not sure if this will be DNF.

So, having a bit of a problem getting into this book because I understand how, historically and currently speaking, most people actually deal with their dead on a battlefield. Having some "firm" come in and dig trenches and toss their fighters willy-nilly whilst stealing their personal goods for resale DOES happen, but usually not to the victor(s)' dead. And, sometimes, though not as often, not to any of them.

I was kind of enjoying this series as much as the others I've read, until Greyson and Pip REALLY started getting on my last nerve with how they are interacting in this book. Does NO ONE tell anyone, like an adult, or ASK anyone how they're really feeling? She assumes, Greyson assumes. Enough already! Get your damned heads out of your asses and TALK!!!

Argh! The MTL on this is killing me! Anyone know where I can find a better translation?

I only want more of the main characters, so this anthology of bits only has one more story (or so) for me in it.

The way I am reacting to the world at large seems to be a yearning for romance and the weight of a story without the angst. I don't want fluff, but I back away when things get too heavy for me to deal... What AM I doing reading Erha now, I ask you? (Masochist much?)
