Presently, I’m beta reading a draft of a romance novel and reading an ARC of a YA fantasy debut. Neither title is on Goodreads yet, but I look forward to reviewing and recommending them when they land here.

I really admire the way this novel portrays different types of masculinity: Erik, the incel; the Persian, who always does the right thing and uses his strength and cunning to protect women, but not in a condescending way; and the young Raoul, who’s somewhere in between and still figuring out what it means to be a man.

Reading “Phantom” with a fully developed frontal lobe is a completely different experience. Why did I ever think this was a love story? This is a novel about a young woman being possessed and manipulated by an incel.

If you think book!Esmeralda is stupid and weak, I have personal beef with you, because there’s no way we read the same novel.
