Jesus revealed the way to be truly human, human as God intended us to be, human in a way that reflects God himself. His way is that of humility.

This book is amazing! I am not an avid reader. It’s a discipline and a chore, not a joy. But I WANT to read this book every chance I get. It is unashamedly biblical. They way the author dissects passages and walks the reader through the application of what forgiveness actually looks like in tangible situations is helpful and brilliant.

This is for sure: if a book on forgiveness is going to be worth your while, it should be dripping with Scripture.

There is no wound too deep for God to heal; there is no question to complex for Him to answer.

We must remember there is no quick fix for trauma. There are no simple truths that make everything instantly better. If we fail to take this into account we will re-wound people who are already suffering.

Trauma is our invitation to rediscover the One who is unshaken.

The ministry of presence is not the scenic route around discipleship. It IS discipleship- the kind that looks a lot like Jesus kneeling, weeping, waiting.

Presence is not passive; it is an intentional act of love

I am so in love with this book. It will probably end up being the best book I’ve ever read after the Bible. Taking it super slow and soaking in every word. Way too many amazing lines to quote here.

Trauma is defined by its impact: the extent to which an event or experience disrupts a person’s sense of self, safety, and connection to others. Something is considered traumatic when it overwhelms the individual who has experienced it.
