Moving along! This has taken several exciting turns in the past few chapters. It's been quite an enjoyable read so far.

I'm enjoying this a lot, but it's been a challenging read for me so far. There's a lot more going on than in most of the books I read.

This is going on the "will finish someday" shelf, but that's probably optimistic. I'm struggling with a lot of things about it, even though I've always enjoyed Scalzi's standalone novels in the past. But a plot has not emerged yet; it's just loosely strung together and smart-alecky scenes. And Wil Wheaton's narration is making everything 10x worse. Maybe I would like it better in print, but ofc it's very expensive.

So far the only crossover character from her other books that I have spotted is Lysandros, who was a minor character in Strong Wine.

I'm not too into this but I *think* I'm curious enough to keep at it a little bit a day.

I really like this book but I'm going to return the audio to the library for now. I think it's more of an "in small doses" kind of read, so I'll keep an eye out for it to go on sale at Audible.

I'm enjoying this so much. I'm just sorry I waited so long to pick up one of her books because this is very up my alley.

Ooh, I have a guess about what's going on! I wonder if I'm right.

Help, I didn't think things through before picking up a contemporary YA book, and now I'm crumbling into dust:

"When Mom is around she always has music on, usually the nineties grunge she liked in college."

Oh okay, I did wonder if the premise was a little more complicated than it seemed, and it is. Hmm. Well, I enjoyed the chapters I finished today a lot.

I keep going back and forth on whether I'm enjoying this, but I plan to finish it. It's kind of murky and meandering, although the basic premise is really simple.

I really like this so far. Wow. I'm only sorry I waited so long to try it, because I've owned the audiobook for several years. Hard to tear myself away.

I need to set this aside for now - I was expecting *some* dreamy nonsense but there's a lot of it. I'm very into Zachary's plot but I can't follow the Sweet Sorrows parts at all, which never happens to me. There's a long line at my library for the audiobook, so it seems right to return it. I have the paperback too, and maybe I'll pick that up sometime.

I have some mixed feelings about this book so far, but the pirate character's personal history in chapter 15 was gripping. It seemed like it was based on real accounts.

I'm enjoying this very much. My only complaint so far is that I wish it had a map.

I tried this once before and got distracted. Hopefully I will finish it this time.

This is a really funny and charming book, so far!

So far: the way people treat slaves makes it hard to sympathize with any non-slave characters. One MC calls a man he dislikes "princess" behind his back. Also, it's in omniscient third-person PoV (my least favorite). I should stop reading but I got the audiobook for free, to review it.

Chapter 21 is so good, and it might work as a no-context short story. I don't know what genre this book is in, or even really why I wanted to read it, but I am having a great time (unlike the poor characters).

This is definitely holding my interest. I was afraid it might be boring, but it isn't at all. There's a ton of casual racism, though. It's probably period-accurate, and maybe it's supposed to make you uncomfortable. I don't know.

I started this because of that Lyn Gala series (Claimings). I wanted more exploration of alien cultures. But it's very boring, and the alien MC mostly views cultural differences as nuisances to her. I should stop now, but I want to know what happens.

I knew this was going to be depressing, but holy cow.

I like Basil a lot, but I wonder if he's going to survive the book. (Don't tell me!)

This is pretty good so far. Kind of fanfic-ish, in both good and bad ways.

Ginn Hale's story is set in the same world as Wicked Gentlemen, and I'm enjoying it a lot, so I need to read that soon. She is so good at worldbuilding!

I just read the first of these, Jordan L. Hawk's story, and I loved it! I hope it's the start of a new series. I don't read most of the other authors, though, so I'm just gonna skip ahead to Ginn Hale's story for now.

Wow, this book is hitting me hard. She's really cutting right to the heart of things.
