I’m a goner. I’ve neglected almost all the things I needed to do today to read.

I sometimes wonder how books as amazing as this one ever allude me. Exceptional writing and style.

I’m on a Verble roll….

This book will move inside me like poetry long after I have read the words.

Being rendered speechless and left with so much feeling.

And without further ado, I venture back into this wonderful author. “Sometimes, Marie got a little drunk at work.” Funny start.

This year’s reading picks have been a mashup adventure. I’m picking at random, refusing to read reviews, and going in pretty blind. What an author.

I’m on a roll with this month’s reads. What a debut!

I’m enjoying the writing in this debut novel.

Just, wow.

I’m beginning to wonder if this is more suitable for a YA audience. I came to this book blindly, so perhaps this is actually YA. It will change my rating if that’s the case. Not a particularly bad read, per sé, but it’s definitely geared towards a more juvenile audience.

It took a bit, but I fell hard for this book.

The story and characters have slowly grown on me….slowing my reading down just a bit, but indulging in this story a bit.

Slow moving, this one.

Having a slow start with this one, can’t say it’s gripped me yet at page 78, but I’m hopeful. I like the story and the writing.

It is with annoyance and reluctance that I turn off the light and go to bed with only 46 pages left.

I haven’t read a Bowden book in quite awhile, but I have always enjoyed his writing and investigative prowess.

Very much enjoying this book

First line. “I have hated my mother for most of my life, but it is her face I see as I drown.”

Grief. For those who have never been eviscerated by it, count yourself amongst the lucky. It is the ebb and flow, the tsunami of feelings- at once stormy and then quiet. I have no doubt I will barely get through this book without tissues and my cat to swaddle me with love. She has always had a way with words.

I simply must lose myself in this book.
